So I'm sitting in my garage this morning, waiting for rs42sport to arrive so I can get his rear brake situation all fixed up, and the phone rings..ID on my cell tells me Donut is on the other end....He asks what I'm doing, and if I'm ready to do my steering head bearings...:hmm2: Jenny was in the house on the couch sleeping off a bit of a hangover from last night, but we were supposed to go riding after getting Zippy's ride finished...But on the other hand, I need to get this done before heading to West Virginia next month....Soooo...

Funny thing is that Zip wanted to get his done also, and good 'ol Donut just happened to have a set of All Balls bearings on hand with him....So I put the customer first (like any good business owner should do ;)), and got Zip's rear brake rotor/pads all taken care of, then swapped out his stock crappy shock bushings for the McMaster-Carr nylon ones, and while his bike was on the stand, did his steering head bearings before doing mine...Good day with good friends, and got that job crossed off my "to-do" list....:mosh:

Oh yeah, forgot one part from yesterday...Kinda mean, but also funny....Jenny and Kyrie made a run to Walmart just before we finished up Zip's bike....Jen got about a mile from the house when I got a call on the cell...Seems the idiots that installed the new windshield in the GMC busted one of the wiper blades and didn't tell anybody, just put it back on the car ...Well it was raining and that blade came off the car....So I hop in the hearse and go see if I can fix it along the road...Fortunately we had put Rain-X on it the week before, so I told her don't run the wipers and get another one from Wally world...So when they get home my bike is torn down like in the pics I posted....And like any good friend, I threw both Donut and Zip under the bus :devious:, and told Jenny that they accidentally dropped the handlebars on the gas tank, and dented it again :icon_eek:....That got that got the most evil look from Jenny I've seen in a long time as they were carrying stuff into the house :icon_burn...So when she came back out for another trip to the car, I told her we was just screwing with her...And she smiled her "That chit ain't funny" smile at me...:nono: :D We thought it was funny, but she had NO sense of humor about it really...:nope:

Glad you got all that done (both to your bike and zippy's) prior to the WV ride. Sounds like things are looking up for you Bill!!

Donut....again you amaze me! You are a special man!

Enjoy today (though it doesn't look like I will be riding-rain again)!

Jen and I went out for a ride to Michigan City to pick up a few things and stop by the flea market....Front end feels much more "planted" in the pavement now, especially when powering out of a corner (merging from a ramp for example)....Beforethe bearing upgrade, the front end felt kinda wiggly under that same scenario...There's a decent set of "S" curves the route I take to work that I can't wait to run through now to see how that feels!!...:mosh:

I think I'm going for a record here - In keeping count now I have done 11 steering head bearings now. It was funny when Skippy found out that I was coming down to do Bill's head bearing and he had left his home an wanted me to put his in and I walked over to my tool pouch and pulled our a new pack of All-Balls and I think Skippy thought he won the Lottery. We had a great time and after a few beer's we got everything done. It was a mini tech session and like always they kept me busy. This time I brought all my tools for doing the All-Balls and everything was easier and faster than when we were at the spring tech session.

I got All my Balls....:D

Sepiroth just rolled outta here...He had one of the stock turn signal lenses decide to jump ship on him the other day, so I hooked him up with one of my factory lenses...Showed him the bearings that came out of my steering head yesterday, and he couldn't believe how chintzy they are...

Speaking of getting stuff done, I go out to finish my stand. And wouldn't ya know it, not enough screws. Got everything glued up, let it dry while I hit up everyone's favorite store in the Midwest. MENARDS, because you save BIG money at Menards!
