Hey guys...I'm new to the area...living in the Capitol Hill area. I've bee here for a year, but have been without a vehicle, so I feel like I don't know the area well at all.

I finally got my bike down here labor day weekend. I took a nice short ride down to Mount Vernon on the GW Parkway. It's a nice quick ride and I love Mount Vernon.

I'm looking for some more good riding routes around here. Can you help me out? Where's the good riding at?

A nice day trip might be to go out Rt. 66 to Front Royal and take a cruise down Skyline Drive. Work your way back to Washington on the country roads.

Some of my most memorable rides were in the mountains west of D.C. in the fall. There's fall festivals everywhere. Anywhere west through North of Harper's Ferry. The Chambersburg and Lancaster areas of Pennsylvania were great. If you can find it, overnight in the Red Caboose Motel.

Like rbednar said, Skyline Drive. I enjoyed riding Skyline Drive in the winter after the roads are clear following a big snow. Make sure it's above freezing up on the mountains so that you won't be hitting any ice.

There's alway the Gettysburg and Sharpsburg Battle Field Parks.

I never ran short of places to ride there. My problem was getting back to work on Monday.

It's scheduled for Sunday October 6th. Final rally point is at the Target in Woodbridge, VA. Here is a link to our Face Book event page https://www.facebook.com/events/625523027487588/ . For anyone away from the DC area but still in VA, we have local rally points in Gainsville, Charlotesville, North Richmond and Hampton Roads thus far but as more riders decide to join, more can be created to accomidate those that want to ride in groups to the final meeting spot. It's just a meet and greet ride, to bring riders through-out VA together for a fun trip. Hope to see you guys there. Here is a link to the group page, feel free to join! and we hope to see you there. You can either contact me on facebook, or just PM for any more information. Thanks
