I must say while I'm a Hard Krome fan, I love my pipes...but their service SUCKS. I called for weeks trying to talk to someone about my pealing tips, I finally just ordered new ones. When I got the new ones they were different sizes, finally spoke with a live human and was told to forward the info about the tips and then I was asked for my receipts, both which I did on October 6th, since then I have had no reply at all.

Here are the tips which on their site they admit a process in the chrome plating process was missed:

I sent all the required info and got no response...I have emailed 3 more times and no reply at all, I have called again and again and got no answer at all. The tips I ordered were the same part number, came in the factory packaging, but were ordered from two vendors (when I first ordered from extremerevolution.com I thought they were in pairs, ordered the second from ridevmc.com).

Here, have a look..do these tips look the same size to you?

Spoke with the guy at Hard Krome he said they only made one size in the tip...I beg to differ....they are totally different sizes, yet I can't find out which is the correct size. I must admit the package I got from Viking looked really old, Hard Krome says they never made a different size...I DISAGREE.

Looks like the nickeling was missed. Copper and chrome but no nickel. Bummer on the new tips though, never should have happened.

Here is the email I just sent...

To: [email protected]

Well, I give up on you answering me or helping. I talked to Andy at Viking today and he has TWO sizes of the same exact part in stock, so I just ordered another tip from him. I guess you need to tell whoever in design that said you guys never made it in a different sizes that you guys did make these tips in 2 different sizes.

Thanks for nothing, not replying to my emails, and not answering the phone, and making me spend $210 to get the same size tips for my Hard Krome pipes that are not pealing.

Sorry to hear about all the trouble with HK Ray. Hope these tips hold up better; I know I'd be pissed too and probably not as civil and patient with them as you have been. I love my HK pipes, but customer service like this will definitely steer me away from them in the future. I've started getting the infamous "HK Rattle" on mine already, with only around 1400 miles on them.

Hi have to say Big-X, for the pain this has been I think you would have been better off just having your rechromed correctly then buying more parts from HK. Probably cheaper too.

Peeling

Well I love my Big 3s and have no problems with them yet. But on their site states that they missed the step and you were sh*t in my eyes. Like Rich said I'm sure I wouldn't have took it laying down. I've got their pipes and talked a bunch of friends into getting them too. But after reading this thread they won't get any of my money again. Till they make some kind of settlement. Word of mouth travels fast around here. :D

I had the same problem with my Tips on HK 2.5'S. After I had tried their 1 800 number numerous times. I also sent them email with no answer. I called 411 and got thier factory number who then passed me over to shipping. I told him my address and what pipes I had and they sent out a replacement set.

I just bought a set of BIG 3s used and the chrome is leaving the tips also. Some of the worst chrome I have seen. The pipes are good for the most part but the but there are bad spots from the factory on the back sides and around the mounts. I know that these are hard to chrome completely but considering that once mounted you wont be able to really keep it polished back there they should have better protection. We all know that rust spreads. I think if I bought a new set of any pipes I would remove them at least once a year and polish and wax the hard to get places to keep them nice. For me I didn't make a major investment and if I keep them I will replace the tips or have these rechromed.

I have been thinking of getting some HK Big 3's after reading all this I don't think I will.

Has anybody had any experience with cutting the entire baffle out of the stock pipes on an 05- 1300R? I have been thinking of taking a Dremmel and cutting the whole thing out of both pipes.

I almost bought the HK 3 inch straights. But went with the Vance and Hines big shots instead. I love the looks of the HKs but it seems Vance and Hines has a better Rep.You're right Green Ghost, word does travel fast and I hope DG HardChrome gets the drift too! Thanks everyone for all the opinions.

I know this is an old post, assuming you paid by credit card, I would threaten that you will charge back the debit on your credit card statement and do it if you have to. Vendors hate that because (1) they are out the sales price, (2) they are charged in the neighborhood $100 per chargeback incident and (3) with enough chargebacks, the credit card company can either raise their processing rates or cancel their priveledges altogether. If that doesn't get noticed, nothing will. Not too many people know or follow through with chargeback. But believe, me that is a dirty word in an accounting dept.
