Jon was a Navy Seal serving in Afganistan. His copter went down with 30 americans on board. Here, in Iowa is the funeral service for Petty Officer Jon Tumilson attended by over 1000 friends, relatives and well wishers and one faithful dog. His friend Hawkeye would not leave the casket. It is a touching, beautiful photograph.

Coming from a huge Hawkeye fan, here is a link about "Hawkeye" the dog possibly leading out the Iowa Hawkeye football team at the first home game against Tennessee Tech. I think it would be a great tribute for all of our fallen heroes.

dogs are great!! my current dog, Eli, comes to me if I make any sound out of the norm......he doesn't do that with the wife! I once had two dogs who were best friends.....when the older one died, the younger dog lied under the container I had her in all night, and when I buried her, the other one stayed there for over an hour! I dont think my wife would stand at my grave for an hour.......unless she was afraid I would come back!!!!

I'm on my 4th German Shepherd and they are the ultimate in loyal companions - don't know how I'd ever have a home without one...
