I want to add a headlight modulator to my 1300. But is there any medium-to-long-term risk of damage to the electrical system - particularly the charging system - because of the cycling load of the modulator? Thanks guys.

This modulator comes with "soft switch" tech -- I have used it for 2 years and no problems yet... same headlight bulb with 15k miles now...
The light never goes out but there is a graduating intensity from dim to bright...

The light is not pulsed with a surge of current but is brought up gradually...

Thus the light last and there is no strain on your electrical system...
Great buy and I WOULD buy it again...

Thanks! Can you tell me which one I need for the VTX 1300 R?
Take a look at your bulb...the plug and play ones are designed for specific headlight bulbs. I don't know what mine is off hand...but I bought one last year, and 12K later, not only has it saved my skin numerous times, it's not failed, or damaged the electrical system. Very good investment, in my opinion. Again, take a look at your current bulb..probably what, an H-4 or soemthing, then find the model designed for that bulb.

The pathfinder that I mentioned is plug and go... Order it for your bike (headlights may be the same) Plug it in... mount the sensor and off you go... The sensor cuts off the modulation as the sun goes down, back to a steady light...

If you would have gone to the link I sent in my post, you would type in your bike and the site would have told you what you needed. I had already done that for your year and model of bike, to make sure it worked. There is nothing to cut. It is really plug in and mount the photo electric eye and you are done.

P115W
Retail Price: $109.95
P115W unit is totally self-contained. There are no hidden boxes or switches. There are no wires to cut or splice.
P115W unit is designed for 3-pin H4 or a Japanese H7 2-pin style headlamps. It's 1.25" (32mm) round, and requires only 0.4" (10mm) of additional room after it's plugged on the back of the bulb.
Some bikes have very little room behind the bulb socket. Use the P115W-S for such applications.
pathBlazer circuit modulates the hi-beam current - from 100% ON to about 17% OFF. This is accomplished by using a p-channel MOSFET, which is inherently safe. The MOSFET is designed to fail in the ON state. For additional safety, the circuits DO NOT utilize the lo-beam whatsoever!
MAX power rating is 115 watts. DO NOT EXCEED!

I've had people at stop lights telling my head light was flashing. I asked them if it got their attention. All have said yes. I told them that is the reason I have it. So you can see me. I had a couple of gate guards at the Air Force Base I work question me about the head light. I asked them too if it was irritating. One answered yes and I told him to be seen was the purpose and it works a lot better than wearing a trash collectors vest. I have the federal mandate on me if they want to see if it was legal. I keep the Federal DOT document with my other important papers for the bike, in case a police officer stops me and does not know the law. So far, no problem with the police. It does not hurt to be ready, just in case. I ride with the Kisan to be safe. It is not a cure all but it sure does help.

i have the kisan pathblaster headlight-modulator in my x for now 5500 miles and had it on my old spirit before.
use it with a xenon 80/85 extrem white bulb.
no problems with charging, load ect - i have a honda lightbar with 2 x 55 watt, too.
would buy it again - if neccesary.
it's just plug and play - open the headlight case - take out the bulb - plug the modultor in - plug the bulb back it - close the headlight.
all together - 5 minutes maximum
