got a buddy that has a 2003 vt 750 ace (honda shadow) battery is good, cables are tight , key switch is good, still no power. No lights, turn signals, no horn. All the obvious are checked, gas, kill switch and kick stand. Today he turned the key powered up no issues, hit the starter button and the whole thing went dead instantly. The main fuse has power all the way to the key switch. Any suggestions would be appreciated. If anyone can figure this out I know yall can :choppersm

After cleaning the starter button you can troubleshoot it with a DC volt meter. Put the black lead on the meter to the NEG- on the batery. Then put the red lead on both sides of the switch before pushing the button. If you have power then goto the opposit side of the button. Check to se if you have power. No? Good then push the button to see if you get voltage if no it's not the button. If yes and still won't start then then follow wire to next point of termination. Push button with meter on it, ETC.. You will find your trouble it's pretty easy becuase it work with voltages all day everyday.. Good luck

thank yall, I sent the link to him and he checking it out now
If he's ridin a Honda he's gonna need that link eventually anyway.
I've got 4 Honda cruisers and I've had to do everyone of them but the VTX so far.
And it'll need it as well I'm sure.
Just never understood why Honda would build a bike that'll run forever and then use a starter button that would do better in a Tonka toy. :banghead:

Just curious - dose he have any accessories added to the electrical system like highway lights or something. If so were they wired to the electrical system up front. That could burn the starter switch up if wired wrong.
