10 year VTX owner 1 year Fury owner. Well actually 2010 1300 Stateline. Never seen this problem before:

My kick stand will not go down. I can roll the bike a bit and sometimes it will go down. I have it propped up right right side - kickstand moves, no problem.

A potentially related problem:

My ignition switch is acting weird. Sometimes it acts like the key turns too far. and passes the "on" position. I can jiggle ignition switch and sometimes it stays in on position sometimes will not. Bad ignition switch??? Ground??? Are problems related??? Does the Stateline need the "ground fix" that the early VTX needed?

I'm lost. Did all kinds of shade tree mechanicing on VTX. Can't figure this out. Any help is appre3ciated.

You should post this in a forum for the VT line of Honda bikes. This forum is for the VTX line of bikes which are different. The VT line includes the Stateline, Interstate, and Fury.

The two problems you describe are unrelated. One is a problem with the mechanical operation of the ignition switch. The other is a problem with the mechanical operation of the kick stand. For the kickstand, examine it closely. Lubricate its pivot point and the spring. Examine the pivot point, spring, kickstand safety switch, and other parts. Something is preventing it from moving.

Thanks! Sorry, I know how related the VTX and VT are from experience. The workings of the bikes are so close I thought I may get some good feedback in here. The VTX forums are always better than the VT.

No problem. The key difference between the VT and VTX is the presence of a carburetor but this is a HUGE difference.

Inspect the Pivot Pin to make sure it's not binding (most all kickstands work the same with a pivot pin and spring or tensioner lever) and if the pivot pin is good, check for a spring or lever tensioner. If all parts check out, the best option is to basically order a new stand and replace it. If the key is turning past the on position the switch itself is most likely bad. If the entire key and switching housing is turning too far, the bottom locking nut that holds the housing in place could be loose. Good fortune with it.

Stop washing your bike and getting any water on or near that ignition switch. It can cause you a lot of problems and the way the dealership got mine working was to put wd40 inside the housing and kept working the key back and forth till it loosened up. Haven't had a problem since 03. I was washing my bike each and every week and without thinking spraying the ignition switch direct. At the time I had a pretty good mechanic and he advised me not to wash it so often and wrap the switch in a plastic bag. As far as your kickstand not moving, it could be as simple as lubing the pivotal point and yes the spring too. This may not be the fix your looking for, but I hope it helps you.
