There are only two important points when selecting an oil. First, make sure the weight is appropriate. This does NOT mean it has to be 10W-30. It should probably be around that weight/viscosity but does not have to be exactly that. If you are running the bike in particularly hot or cold weather, you may want to purposefully deviate from 10W-30. Second is to make sure that the oil is NOT labeled as "energy conserving". Oil with this label has additives that will cause the clutch plates to slip since the engine oil is also used for the clutch/transmission. As long as those two points are met, it does not matter if the oil is for bikes, cars, boats, or helicopters :) They will all work the same. Most oils are NOT "energy conserving" so you will have a wide range of choices. Some prefer cheap "dino" oil that gets changed more frequently while others prefer more expensive synthetic oil that is changed less frequently. There is no right or wrong answer - it is personnel preference.
