How do I get bluing off chrome pipes??

I'm probably having a senior moment and am wrong on this but I seem to recall that oven cleaner is good for cleaning your pipes. I'm sure it will take off anything that touched your pipe and melted to it but do not remember for sure if it will remove bluing or not. May be worth checking further into.
