Need help with a vtx 1800c I just bought from dealer. It has the hyper charger and found the electronic unit under tank. The bike is back firing bad when it is hot. Had at dealer today and they couldnt get the bike to do it. ( I think it was cold). Rode it all day yesterday and now the back fire in 2nd or 3rd gear in slow speed limits is getting embarrassing. Will a map help? Is fuel type an issue? Please help. Love the bike. Just want to run sharp.

Whoops. Also forgot it is used 2002 with 23000 and has aftermarket pipes. Again thanks. New here - two days on site and already learned so much.

What do you mean by backfiring? Is it backfiring thru the exhaust or the intake? Is it a loud blast of fire or popping? What electronic unit are you talking about? A PCIII? If the valves are adjusted properly, the exhaust gaskets are sealed properly, there are no vacuum leaks and the A/F ratio is set properly, it shouldn't backfire or backfire very little on decel. Be sure you're in the proper gear when putting around. Don't lug the engine.
