I would go with the original hypercharger... there all the same just diffent looks. Not a huge performance gain but does help some with high flow filter. I bought it for the looks especially!

charger

I've had the standard hypercharger on for over a year and it has proved to be nice piece in performance and eye candy. With the right pipes and rejeted the bike has a better low to midrange pull than it ever had before. It pulls very hard from idel to rev limiter. I also have bought four lids for the hypercharger. Blood grove, stinger, streamliner, and stock chrome. Don't think you can go wrong with the standard hypercharger. It's worth every penny in eye candy alone.

I agree the Hyperchargers, no matter what you go with, are a great looking upgrade on the X (or just about any bike out there). Anything you can do to open the bike up and let it breathe easier is definitely a plus since these bikes are pretty lean in stock form. You can't go wrong with those for better looks and better performance.

I have the Kury Pro Hyper and noticed increased power. Might be the combo with the pipes (BUB Jug Huggers) as well. I had them both put on at the same time. They did have to go through about 5 sets of jets to get it to run just right though. I had to take it back once because it was coughing a bit. I have some pics in the 1300 forum. Also if you just look at my gallery I have some pics.

I have the pro series hyper charger, jet kit and thump cycles pipes from Tejas. The combo is not bad and sounds and looks great too. It turns some heads, that's for sure.

If you like the way it looks... go ahead. If you have accutronix, make sure to seat yourself and test the right side for comfortable clearence. About performance... bahh, no big deal. from 2 to 6 HP most. Very tricky. You better get the complete package to see some improvment. Hyper, header, pair valve, dynojet kit... a lot of tunning.
Personally I have one... I love the way it looks, took me some miles to get used to it with my accutronix.

I love mine as said previously on looks alone. I did multiple mods at once so I can't say it was the Hypercharger, however a combination of pipes, jet kit and a Hypercharger will make a big difference.

I don't know for sure about this info but I heard a few weeks ago from a local biker mechanic about this combo ''Pro R Hypercharge W/ Vance and Hines Big Shots" and a performance near to 69HP. Obviusly with some time spent in Dyno and a few $$$$ for tunning.

A month ago, I had a set of [email protected] (Bigshots) installed. I also replaced my stock filter with a [email protected] ,rejetted and had the bike put on the Dyno. I had the sound I wanted and did see an increase in power. I asked the mechanic if a hypercharger would make an even greater gain and he said for the money I'd spend it isn't really worth it. Not much of a noticable difference. Thought it was good of him to tell me that instead of selling me extra. Some people say it makes a difference and others just like the look. I think it looks great but will not be getting one soon.

Maybe I did something wrong, but last year I got HK 3" Big Straights and a Kury hypercharger. I am not a mechanic, so I had the stealer put it all on. Afterward, I noticed a horrendous loss in gas mileage, and it sputters and stalls creates black smoke when I gun it. I've taken it in a couple times and they've tried to lean it up, but that just causes more stalling. They said the carbs were all black and asked if I leave the choke in when I ride. No, I dont do that.
I like the pipes but I'm ready to dump the hypercharger. Does anyone here not have a raving review of these things? Any air filter/intake recommendations to replace the hypercharger?
Maybe the "professional installation" I paid for was just bad. Twice.
Bike is 2006 VTXR.

I met up with a local VTX owner who wanted to hear my BUB pipes before he bought a set. He wanted to cruise around and listen to them as we drove, at one point while we were side by side I told him I'd GET ON IT so he could here the full range. I noticed him dropping back further & further. When we stopped he was amazed because he couldn't keep up with me, He has a stock 06' VTX. Since my bike came from the dealer with the Hypercharger & Bub exhaust on it, I always wonder myself if there was a difference..... Now I Know.

Chances are they put in the jets from Kury...they are not the right size. Your best bet is to put all the stock parts back in and do the scar method of tuning your carb first. If you can't get it dialed in then you might consider getting the Factory Pro jets and and tune it from there. I run the Kury Hyper Pro R with V&H Crusiers with the Factory Pro 215 main jet and stock pilot jet, Factory Pro needle on the 4th clip and my bike runs awesome...your settings will vary from that but Scars method would be the very best place to start!
The detail of Scars write up is amazing and it is easy to work on your carb if you follow his directions.
Just my 2 cents worth.

They Hyper Charger looks awesome. Before I got my bike, I saw a picture of one with the HC installed and it was the component whose look, along with the HK 3" Big Straights the (pictured) bike had, that I told myself I was shooting for. Looks cool and mean as hell.

So I came here and asked folks about it. The answers I got said that:
  1. It did increase power to the bike
  2. Yes, it did look super cool, but...
  3. It was a pain because it sticks out, right under the tank, where your leg (just under your knee) should be, so your leg is always rubbing/resting on it, and your foot cannot completely sit on the peg without feeling unnatural. One owner said that he thinks he has a "permanent bruise" from it
  4. The quality of the thing was put into question. First, I was told that its vacuum lines are junk and should be replaced right off the bat, before even installing it. Second, that the shutters/vents on the front can decide to stop working properly over time... One guy said that he has had to rebuild his HC numerous times to keep it working properly
The thing about the "permanent bruise" and concern about having to keep messing with the Hyper Charger to keep it working properly (and for this kind of money?) has made me remove it from consideration. I've been pointed to, and have heard excellent things about the Baron's BAK kit, and this is what I will be installing on my bike very soon. I still prefer the badass look of the HC, but am not willing to have to keep messing with it or investing $$ in rebuilds to keep it working, just to have the cosmetic coolness. The BAK seems a lot more simple, just as good performance-wise, and has a great reputation all around, from what I've seen.

I'm new to the X, and ask a LOT of questions about everything before I buy, because I want to make the right choice. This is what I've come up with regarding the HC. Best of luck in making your decision!
