In the mountain having a great time until those those little tips that hag down from the end of the foot pegs kept scraping the road. I scraped those little puppies four time on the left side and each time it scared the #$%$ out of me. Took them off as soon as I got home. What are those things for anyway?

That's pretty much what they're for. I've done that a couple of times on my C. More unsettling than anything....like you said...scares the crud outta ya for just a second.

They're actually designed as a warning device. I agree it hampers deep cornering a bit, but also lets you know how close your pegs are to the pavement before scraping them and causing cosmetic damage (or more).

they are there to tell you not to lean that far, after some ride time you will learn how to keep them from hitting.

I have learned how to counter lean a bit to keep the floorboards from draging

If you ain't scrapin' you ain't riding hard enough... No, really, they are there just to remind you are close. Check out your tires, you will see how much of the side thread you are using. All the way to the edge and your doing good.

I tried the countering steering and I haven't had the problem since. I'm not countering steering much just enough to stay in the apex.

I decide to keep them on and adjust my riding style. Thanks for the reply.

I felt like I was digging in the pavement and was about ready to do a 360. Countering steering seems to help a lot.
