I'm still a newbie and after two weeks of riding my 2005 vtx 1300r, I absolutely love it. I've put 600+ miles on it, scheduled the 600 mile maintenance for Tuesday, ordered a Memphis Fats windshield, and received some great compliments from some Harley riders, other riders, and attractive women. I'm learning a lot by getting out on the road and being a defensive rider. My question is...How do I keep from riding this thing? The house is a mess, the grass needs cut, and if I had a wife, she would have left me by now. This is a great forum. Thanks

That's funny, your not th only one though. I had 600 miles the first weekend I had it. In 2 months I have put on over 3000 miles. In fact, I have not started my car since I got the bike. Cool thing is my wife has enjoyed most of those miles with me.

Definitly addicting, guess thats why they call it "throttle therapy".
Thats the beauty of having a Honda - start her up and ride - beats playing Mr. Goodwrench every time you want to ride.
That's for sure!
You ever notice how Harley riders usually know so much more about wrenchin' on bikes than Honda riders?
That's 'cause Honda riders don't have to unless they want to.

Have a baby. I've only been out twice this year so far....and also why I've been up for about 24 straight hours. I used to be able to do that no problem...with drinking and partying involved, but not anymore. I've already called in sick to work.

Haha, I'm with you Coley. Really tough to find time to ride, I have a 2&1/2 year old. I'm getting into the habit now of going out at night for a while after he's in bed and the Mrs. doesn't have anything big planned. Have to "squeak" in my time when I can. I hate I don't have more time, just hope to get some "bike passes" as I call them from the Mrs. over the next couple of weekends.

Yep, it's addictive and once I get on I have a hard time steering back home, that's for sure.:choppersm

Hope you get some sleep soon man!

Ahhhh......The Terrible Two's... huh? I've heard some scary stories about them. I have a buddy who's child is about the same age as yours. It a time I'm not looking forward to. Jacey's almost 20 months. Some nights are better then others. Last night was a tough one. I think she was over stimulated during the day.

Because of where my bike is parked, the location of my girl's room and the pipes I have on....going out after she falls asleep isn't an option unless I feel like giving my wife some trouble....and that's just not worth it...If you know what I mean.:icon_wink

That's cool that you can do that. Riding at night or dusk is my favorite time to ride. Less cars, people, sun and it just seems more peaceful and relaxing than during the day.

I have put 4000 miles on mine in about 11 weeks. Been on a couple of 500 round trips. But I am in education and have extra time this time of year. I have taken one of the rides that the Honda Riders club recommended down the outer banks but I would recommend others to be prepared for the wind gust.

I have similar problems as REtro and Coley, twin 3 yr's ! But nice thing is I have at least 3 other friends that ride and come get me, sort of in "rescue mode" if you will. Hard for the missus to say no when my friends come around and ask her if I can go for a ride, reminds me of peer pressure lol

Don't you dudes have any Bike ridin friends to come "rescue you" ?? Works like a charm

Yeah...I do, but usually I'm just too tired. I'll have time to ride a little later. I just added a short video of her (about a minute) in the Off Topic section.

Twins ...huh? I have enough trouble with one. You must be a busy man.

It's all about priorities. I have a lawn, a couple cars, a wife, etc. But I also have a beautiful, shiny, VTX 1300S in the driveway....

The grass can wait, the car can get washed if I leave it out when it rains, and my wife can come along if she wants to. =)
