Got the bubs off of ebay...had a bit of an issue...incomplete installation kit..hard as hell to follow instructions (at least to me...I'm not that mechanically inclined..:D ), couple of the bolts threads were different than what i needed.

But in the end...these Bubs are something else!!! Managed to get it done and take her for a spin and man did does she rumble now.

For those that are debating on whether or not to change to Bubs or take off the stocks, DO IT!!!! The Clayton is good if you don't want to deafen your neighbors but if you want the rumble...go for it.

Now my question...are the HK 3" pipes as loud as these BUBS? (yes, I've got a set of HK's on the way...I like the long pipe look - but the Bubs are sweeeet!)

I dont think pipes come much louder than Rineharts. Hope that answers your question. =) That being said, i think the sound QUALITY is better off the HKs. You guys would be AMAZED in what some companies do to tune the sound of their pipes. For example, Ferrari spends monts of time in studios (sound studios, that is, and I'm not kidding)and loooooots of $$$ to get the "Ferrari sound".

I have a set of HK 3" BIGS and I really like teh sound. They are LOUD but they sound so good. I have a set of Sideburners on the way so I will try those and then make a choice. Love the look of the S/Bs.

Agreed

I agree, The sound is a little tinny on the HK's I Think. Some Thunder Monster baffels take care of that so I've heard. I rode with some guys last SAT. One had Cobra's one had Big Shots, and a HD with Screaming Eagles, You could'nt here anything but my BIG 3s. With homemade baffels. I really love the look of the Big 3s on the R/S models. GG :D

Can't beat the sound of HK, in any size, but the 3" sound awesome !! Hubby has on his Stratoliner S, and a friend has them on their 1300, nice throaty sound normal riding, oohhh but when you really get in the throttle, LOOK OUT, Hubby set off a few car alarms yesterday riding down Main St. He loved that !! Anyway, they sound great !

The HKs are anything but tinny. Mine idles like a thumper big block and the sound can be heard blocks away. That being said they sound great but are LOUD. They are not obnoxious at all. My 3" Bigs have a great sound to them and from waht I hear the Sideburners have a even better sound to them. Now, people with the 1800s say the 1300s have a better sound to them and sound like Harleys due to the single pin cranks.I have to wait a couple more days for the S/Bs to get here but I should have them on by next weekend.

Just make sure to replace your crush gaskets when you swap pipes. A lot of folks say you dont have to, but for 7 bucks, I'd MUCH rather replace them then have to take the exhaust back off because they leak.

Bought 2 extra sets of gaskets...Retro Rich told me about them.
Yeah good idea, Just loosen the right floorboard till it flops. Take the Rear Master Cyc. Res. bolt out and lay it down on the side. Crows Foot or a cut off wrench helps with the front lower head bolt. Shim the pipes away from the rear mount approx 1/4 in. in case you ever want to run the Kury Swingarm cover. Make sure to remove the old crush washers and install the new one's. Pretty easy to mount. GG :D
