i have a 2009 VTX1300R

I just replaced the fuel line, no leaks, rode into work today just fine until i pulled into the parking space. it started to sputter at an idle, then flooded and shut down. gas was dripping out of my carb. wth??? i haqve no clue why this is happening? any ideas?

It sounds like either the float inside the carb is stuck in the open position or (less likely) that the petcock vacuum actuated diaphragm valve is stuck in the open position. For both of these rap on the offending metal housing with the hard plastic end of a large screwdriver and see if this loosens things up. If that doesn't work, you will have to take off the bottom float bowl of the carb and clean out the gunk that is causing the float to stick and take apart the petcock to replace or de-gunk the diaphragm valve. Until this is fixed, make sure to turn the petcock hand lever to the off position when the bike is parked. This will stop the flow of fuel to the carb.

Lastly, check your oil. In some cases were excess fuel gets to the carb, some of this excess can end up in the oil. If the oil smells like fuel, then you will need to fix the fuel problem and then change your oil.

If it's on the side stand I don't see how it could come out of the carb, I would think if it went anywhere it would go into the engine via gravity if float was stuck, even still a issue would have to occur with vacuum or petcock.

I would recheck your connection points first, vacuum lines, and like Vinish said, check the oil for gas just in case.

I've had the float stick and with the bike running, gas come pouring out of the airbox....Tap on the bottom of the carb with a hammer and piece of wood...That'll free up whatever is stuck in there...More than likely a piece of debris got in the fuel line when replacing it...

Honda Kinda Goofed with the carb on the right side of the engine - So it drains when flooded into the engine.

Spot check to make sure the micro eraser head fuel filter is in place - at carb inlet.

Get used to using the carb drain to flush out the little toilet bowl.
Captured in small glass jar - confirm it's just gas -
vs special sauce.

Thanks for all the help everyone.
I have an aftermarket air intake on the side of my carb. So the excess fuel was spilling out of that. I tap on the bottom of the carb then took it for a ride it sputtered for a while at higher rpms but cleared up pretty quick. I'm going to change the oil this weekend just to be safe.
