Read the kickstand mod by another member using a door knob of sorts...thought it was a great idea. Didn't think much about it for awhile until I ran into a rain storm, my boot was slick, and I couldn't get the kickstand down. Ergo...I did a slight mod to the kickstand using a bullet type knob (one can get them on-line for $5). I used a flat head bolt to hold it on.

Looks good! Tried to make one of the kickstand knobs and didn't tighten it up correctly....ended up without the knob when I stopped. Haven't made replacing it a priority yet.

You should countersink the hole and use a beveled screw so the concrete doesn't wear the head of and the knob falls out. I lost one that way.

Ok, This may be dumb but, what do you do with the bike while working on the kickstand. I love the idea and want to do this to mine.

I put mine on the jack but I guess you could have someone hold it if you study it and work fast.

Before I bought a jack when ever I've needed better access to the left side of any of my bikes over the years I would just pull up so the garage wall was on the right side, then leave it in gear and turn the bars to the left and lean it against the wall. If you have ISO grips you can put a rag between the wall & the grip so you don't scratch the chrome.

Well you could get one with three wheels, you wouldn't need to worry about holding it up for anything. But you could still have a kickstand, maybe for novelty's sake. I have been trying to think of an idea to add something to it so I can get hold of it easier with my foot.

If you have a place to do it, use tie downs and cinch the bike up with tie down (as you would on a trailer). This would hold it while you work on the kickstand.
