Looking to add a light bar to my 1300, but need to ensure compatibility with a National Cycle Switchblade windshield. I know NC sells a bar/set that works, but would like to consider all options -- Kuryakyn, etc. Anyone made this mod or have tips?

I have done nothing with either a NC windscreen or a NC lightbar so I cannot be of direct help. However, I did install a Cobra lightbar on my wife's '06 1300S which had a Memphis Shades windscreen. The lightbar would not fit in the "stock" position. I had to install a special plate that pushes the lightbar forward so that the back of the new spotlights on the lightbar were far enough forward to clear the windscreen. This chrome adjustment plate is something that Cobra sells and will move the lightbar forward about 1.5". This did not appear to enough in my case so I bought a custom plate sold by a local Honda dealer that moved the lightbar about 2-1/4" forward. Good luck.

G'day,

Vinish

I installed a Kuryakyn lightbar (the one with built-in LED turn signals) with my NC windshield. No issues.

you can go to the National Cycle site (which you may have gone already), and start clicking by bike specific, Honda, 1300. for mine it was the 944 (i think) but i have the 2 up. go to around mid page and it says "products by bike" and click away, it'll give you a whole list of the products that fit your particular model, which i believe should be like mine!

http://www.nationalcycle.com/catalogue/LightBars.shtml

you may try the other vendors site, like motorcycle-superstore , jpcycles , cruisercustomizing , moto sport, cheap cycle parts (you can go to forums-1300 forums-Answer to Common questions and see a list of the vendors) http://www.vtxcafe.com/showthread.php/21645-Answers-to-Common-Questions
then you can browse to see what you're interested, what you like, price it, then shop for it.
just a suggestion, as others will also give you theirs...

hope this helps...let us know how you make out and of course, post pics, lol ;)

Thanks for the feedback, gang. The Switchblade is great -- on for road trips and off for everyday cruising in a blink. You're right, monte, it's the N944 for the NC lights which makes the fit a no-brainer. I do though like the Kuryakyn Constellation with turn signals -- I think it would look sharp on this model in particular. I've always had great luck with Kury's quality and compatibility. They are more expensive, so I've been shopping around online. Kinda leaning their way and will do something before Spring. Stay tuned....

the reason i knew that (but one can't be too sure, lol) is because i've looked at them many times, just come short on the cash side. i've also looked at the cobra and they look sturdier. the Kury's i haven't seen up close and personal, but i like them too, but see previous line $$$.

i know a few guys have this from Barons http://www.baronscustom.com/catalog/display/970/index.html but i havent checked out if they fit or make one for the C model...

take care...

Nice tip -- That with the visors would look pretty sweet. I guess it all comes back to compatibility with the 'shield. I don't use it for most of my riding anyway, but that fit is obviously a must. Might take a few calls to confirm for sure. Oh well, I'll figure it out. Hadn't thought of Cobra as an option, but they make a great product too -- I had Lo-Boy Staggered pipes on my old Yamaha V-Star Classic and really liked them. Still have stock pipes on my VTX, but will definitely give them a look again when I'm ready....
