Need help. I just installed a rivco lightbar according to instructions. It was working fine for a couple hours of riding. I just noticed a crack in the left lense and it looks as though there was an explosion in the headlight- discolering on the inside f the lense. Any thoughts? A short maybe? I wired it just how instructions said to

Sounds like it is defective - you are only working with 12v - are the lights 12v.

Also you said you wired them up by the instructions - did you use a relay - I hope. did you run a separate hot wire to them threw a relay and not connect them to the headlight wiring.
What wattage are they.

The lightbar is 12 volts. It also did not come with a relay. It does have a switch though. I am adding a harnes with a relay which powers from the battery. I found out one of the sealed beam lights has a tiny crack in it which caused it to blow. Doug, if I leave the light bar turned off via the switch on the lightbar until I add the relay, It should not fry the starter switch or any wiring right?

Correct just don't turn it on and that way there is no current draw on the wiring .and switch.

Also, Without the relay, does the lightbar only pose a problem while starting the bike? Would it be ok to just turn off the lightbar while starting, or can it fry wiring and switches while the bike is running as well?

I wired it according to the instructions which said to use the black wire with brown stripe for the power to the lightbar. This seems to be an accesory wire. I say that because the black and brown wire was one of three wires attached to an unused 3 hole female plug. Would that be an accesory plug? Would that plug send current through the starter switch? Just wondering if I could use the lightbar until I get time in my schedule to wire in the relay

I rewired it. A crack on back of the sealed beam light caused it to blow. I used the same wire which is the brown with black stripe in the bucket which is a switched power accesory wire for the honda lightbar. It is in the three pin connector. I ran that to my switch. Switch to relay. Relay is also hooked up properly to the batery and and back to the lightbar with an inline fuse. The relay alows the battery to power the lightbar. Works great and I don't have to worry about frying any wiring
