Was taking the ol' X out on a short jaunt yesterday, on a two lane highway, crusing at 60, minding my own business, when I caught a white blur out of my side vision. Turns out it was a used 5 gallon "mud bucket" that had flown from a contractors truck. The thing hit the road once and than hit me in the left knee / leg. No damage to me or the bike - just a little scary. I caught up with the truck to get a company name and number and the three idiots in the truck just smirked and played stupid and refused to stop. As luck would have it another contractor's truck with two guys in it, witnessed the whole thing and pulled behind these guys and started honking and waving at them to pull over.
They pulled over, the other truck pulled over and so did I. Thought it was going to be a good old fashioned brawl (leave your helmet on) but the three stooges were nothing but apologetic when it was now three on three.
Anyhow I wrote down their information said a few choice words, thanked my two new friends and left.
Its bad enough with the kids on cell phones and the seniors in their land yachts, but I never expected this, nor could I have reacted to avoid it.
After I cooled off - said a prayer - and tried to enjoy the rest of ride.
Just venting!

Being new to the riding game, I'm starting to see more and more drivers doing these types of things. I am finally going on a long backroads trip for myself and by myself and the other guy is my biggest worry!

Thank goodness you're ok - and I am a firm believer that what you put out there, good and bad, will come back to haunt you in time.

Good riding.....

Thanks, and I agree with you!
You are absolutely right - it is the other guy that you have to worry about, or on the backroads more likely an animal of some sort. Always scan the environment well in advance of you, but relax and enjoy.
Have a good trip!
