Hi all. This is my first post on this forum. If this is an inappropriate type post/question please let me know.

A couple of years ago I picked up a 2007 VTX 1300R but have yet to buy anything new for it. Due to the poor selection of bike retailers in my city I'm doing all my shopping online. My hope was to ask advice and possible suggestions on what I'm planning on buying. I'm getting new rubber for the front and back: Metzeler ME 888 Marathon Ultra Rear (170/80B5 77H) and Metzeler ME 888 Marathon Ultra Front Tire (140/80-17 69H).

I'm also looking at getting quick release wind shield and saddle bags. I drive around locally more often than I do longer highway rides so I'd like to have the option to quickly switch 'modes' so to speak. Below are the links to the two items I'm looking at. Thoughts? Advice?

Hi. Ya I have a mechanic that has taken care of all of that. I'm getting him to install anything I add as well (like the new tires that i'll be ordering soon).

Well, as long as things like new neck bearings have been done, as well as the windscreen and saddle bags I'd have Glen's clutch pull relief put on - you won't believe the difference it makes until you try one.

+1 on the clutch pull relief.

Also, the scar mod, airbox decap mod, pair valve removal, and exhaust resonator drill mod are all pretty easy to do and cost next to nothing. I think the pair blockoff plates are about 20 bucks, the scar mod costs about 3 bucks (all you need are washers from radio shack), the exhaust resonator mod requires a drill and drill bits, and the airbox mod requires a sawzall and maybe a file.

New owners sometimes tend to overlook this fact. It does take a lot to 'bring it back' all at once, but when it's done, peace of mind is worth many many miles of smiles. You have to crawl before you walk, and walk before you run, that kind of thing.

I had Saddlemen bags on my last bike, and they started to lose their shape after a few years of use. I put Viking Bags on my VTX and they have a more rigid liner. Only issue so far is that the top opening is too small for my half helmet to fit in, the Saddlemen bags flexed enough that I could get it forced into them... The Viking Bags also offer the key lock, which is useful as well.

Hi. I actually am thinking of getting https://fortnine.ca/en/national-cycle-switchblade-2-up-windshield-n21111 instead now.

I got this windshield in late 2016 and really like it. Easy on, easy off. If you get the hard lowers with it, it creates a very calm pocket of air behind it, no buffeting. In fact, it creates a better pocket of calm air than the big bucks fairing I used to have. These arn't cheap, but will last a very long time with good maintenance.
Nobody has mentioned another product of Glenn's that was the first one that I ordered: his permanent mount air/fuel adjustment screw. Just replaces the existing a/f screw which you can only see by removing the carb and is he!! to get at. Glenn's has a lanyard and a knob that hangs down right next to the idle adjustment knob under the air cleaner box. The final adjustments (tweeks) to your carb is made with the a/f mixture screw. Glenn's tool makes this effortless.
