You may have a point Goldsmith, With really heavy stuff hanging out on the end, I guess it would make a difference in the long run. With the plastic cap I put on mine It may be lighter than the metal key??? Big X has posted no trouble with his. I guess it probaly weights more than the rest I've seen. Looks Killer Though. I think it worth the extra wear. As long as you don't have to change lock sets every couple of years. That could get pricey. GGGoldsmith said:I was wondering what that was in your other post. Looks real good.
OK gonna pose this question again. The added weight, especially with the lug nut, is this going to prematurely wear the cylnder in the ignition??????????????????
I agree with this. I think they look great but with teh vibration of the engine it just seems like a lot of wear and tear.Goldsmith said:I was wondering what that was in your other post. Looks real good.

Frist stopped by Good year dude turned me on to a few used chrome nuts went to local lock smith don't even thingkof wm got 2 keys made tried um fore i left the place 7 bucks.Put nut in vise cut it at top of taper sanded it down smooth &evened up with belt sander.Sanded key equally on both sides till it would startin threads (fairly tight fit)screwed it in till it looked right on bike and would still open gas cap.Had some stuff called sonic weld (epoxy putty bout the same as liquid steel) just made sure key was centered and striaght pushed putty in with a small piece owood when hole was filled leveled it off and was done (used bondo on the one i made out of grip end cap)Next one i do will use shorter lug with threads all the way to end of cap.Cowman said:Looks good countryboy. Now, how did you do it? I don't think a lugnut weighs enough to ruin the cylinder, but I wouldn't want to carry it around in my pants pocket but the key pocket on the leather would be allright. Great idea.
