Hello I recently bought an aftermarket backrest for my VTX 1300c. The box that it came in had no instructions or company name. The website called it a duluxe backrest for honda. I bought it off of amazon.com. I cannot find a luggage rack for it, does anyone know of a luggage rack that I can use with it. My wife and I are going on a trip in about a month and I would like to be able to take an extra bag. Please help.:banghead:

I am sure if you post pics, some of these folks may be able to identify the backrest and point you in the right direction for a rack.

However if time creeps up on you and you really want a rack to use, you can do what i did. It cost me under $15 and took all of about 20 minutes to do once i had all the stuff together. If you scroll further down the thread i posted pics again after SPyKER powdercoated it. Its not all that pretty but it did a great job.

Might help to also post the width of the backrest and the distance between the bolts.

Hello everyone, still a newbie so i cannot post pics of the backrest i have on my 1300, but as soon as i can will be up, seems wider than usual but am still wanting a luggage rack for the longer rides. Anyways have a good one and watch out for those things with 4 wheels.

+1 on making one...
It can be done very cheap and with just about any design you can think of if you don't want one like everyone else has. I was bored when I did mine so I decided to try something different and it actually turned out ok. Being I also have a C I wanted to keep the lines clean so I bent in the sides to match the lines of the fender, IMO it looks a lot better that way vs just a big square out back.

Just take some aluminum or steel plate and cut it to the shape you want with the bolts holes drilled to fit what you have on your backrest. Then just get some 3/8" tubing and some threaded rod with some cap nuts and drill a couple holes then put it all together. You could put a nice finish on it or just leave it as is if you plan on removing it after your trip.

P.S. You'll probably have to get 1/4" longer bolts so you can keep your backrest safe for your passenger, any Ace hardware has a very nice selection of stainless bolts that work great.

Dang, that's a pretty cool luggage rack, I happen to have a cnc plasma at work. Think I'll probably be making my own sometime soon.
Now you are going big time. lol I did all mine by hand - horizontal/vertical cutoff saw and eye balled and guess and by-golly-I did it.
If you'd seen me make it you would have had a good belly laugh. And no beer was included in making it.
