I just wanted to share something. I replaced the stock headlamp with the Sylvania Silverstar and OMG what a difference. It has to be 5-10 times brighter than stock. I also replaced it in my wife's VLX. What a difference. I bought the twin pack for autos (Part# 9003) at Walmart for about $45. They didn't have any H4's in stock. From reading other forums, the H4 and 9003 are the same bulb. I was thinking about getting a lightbar, but not any more.

Hey BG,
What the wattage on that bulb?
Can't remember if it is 55/60 or 55/65...it's the same as stock though.

Edit: oops...didn't see Radioman's reply...thanks.

Changing out the 1157 bulb with a 2357 is much brighter. I have that in my tail light. Hard to miss the brake light when it comes on. I have the Sylvania Silverstar as my head lamp too. Different pattern than the stock headlight. Looks brighter as mentioned by the others here. Maybe a different gas inside the bulb causing the brighter light with the same wattage. I might have to get the 2357 for the front turn signals. The rear takes an 1156. Have not found a 2356 bulb to place inside the rear turn signals. I changed my turn signals over to the Kuryakyn 'Triple Whammy' Run-Turn-Brake Light Kit.

That's a decent price. I paid around $40 for the 9003's (same as the H4 which is sold single) which come in a 2 pack. Only reason I bought the 2 pack was to swap out the lamp in my wife's ride too.

I went to Walmart and the book says 9003cb, they don't have that one. Is the 9003st the same or not? If I can use that instead I will pick one up tomorrow.

Offhand, I'm not sure. I would have to check the package when I get home this evening (I'm at work now). But if I remember correctly, it was a blueish color package, Sylvania Silverstar, but I don't recall there being a cb or st after the 9003. I will check later and get back to you.

Anyone have any opinion on using the High Beams all the time?

I just moved to TX from CA in late 2005. In CA the DMV recommends for all motorcycle riders to use their highbeams at all times to improve visibility. Makes sense to me so I've always done it.
I haven't taken the time review the TX guidelines, but since they gave me my TX license based on my CA one, I assumed that the rules must be fairly close.
With that said I have not seen this practice used here quite as often and was wondering what you guys think.
Since I use my highbeam all the time, I haven't really had any trouble with my stock headlight. :)

High Beams during the day...all the time. At night, high beams when there is no oncoming traffic and no one directly in front of me. Better to play it safe.

Ok, I did check the packaging and it shows 9003 ST/2. I have no idea what that means, but that what it says.

Thanks, will pick one up tomorrow.:hmm2: Will be interesting to see the difference as I think factory lights only let you see the center line and thats about it, and in MN, you want to see the deer on the roads. lol:bleh:

Deer?...when I was up yonder, I was afraid of the skunks.
