I have attached a picture of the right front section of the motor if you are sitting on the bike. Cleaning it the other day I noticed and felt a junk of the casting is missing. I have no leaks. The bike runs fine. It looks like a bit of discolor around the jagged line. Maybe the part attached was torqued to tight by factory. Does anyone else have this issue? You will likely have to zoom in on the picture. Is this something I should be concerned with??

So maybe it is not stuff missing but is actually flash that is not removed??
If this is a broken off piece from an area that is supposed to be present, the remaining metal will be thick and strong. If it is just flashing that was supposed to have been removed (or not present to begin with in the casting process) then the remaining metal will be real thin. Just see how thick the remaining metal is and whether it feathers down from slightly thicker to real thin at the edge of the "flash".

G'day,

Vinish

I have attached a photo of my bike in the same area, please excuse my road spray, I got caught in the rain yesterday. Your bike may have more casting flash there but it is not broken. The bolt boss extends forward from the engine block and the starter is bolted there, it is designed that way. Notice the flash on mine below the chrome bolt. I unsuccessfully attempted to attached a copied photo from the maintenance manual that shows the same thing.
