Ok, I am 6'2 280lbs riding a 1300R. And the sock seat SUCKS in my opinion. rode for 100 miles today and had to stop 3 times cause of the, well you know.

I know this is gonna open a can of worms , but I need the pros and cons on each. I think the wife is gonna buy me an early Christmas present.

Also if there are any other suggestions for seat mods I would like to know them as well.

THanks in advance.

I got the Ultimate X. I sat on them all before making a decision. I recommend you doing the same. Setting on them all that is. Then you can make an informed decision.

I sent my seat to Bad-X. I did the same thing as you....Mustang or Ultimate then I heard alot of people talking about the Bad-X seat mod. I couldn't find anyone who said a bad thing about his seat mod. Plus it will save you $$. When my seat comes in you can check it out.

I think when the time (read, funds :D) comes, I'm going to go with the Mustang. I belong to a local Southern Cruisers chapter and on one of our rides today, I sat on one of the guys RoadStar and he has a Mustang. I loved the feel of that seat!

I'll preface my above comment with the understanding I've had two major back surgeries and have two hunks of metal fusing my two lower levels of my spine. That extra support due to the construction of the seat is what will most likely send me on another spending spree for the Mustang. :D

Just remember the seat sets different from one bike to another. The way it feels on your buddies bike will not be the same as an X will set.:stirpot:

I would go with Bad x memory foam option as well. I have mine done and it is the best money I had spent. When I had mine done, I figured if I dont like it, it was only 85 bucks and then I can go spend 400 on a mustang if need be. There hasnt been one person that has regretted going the BAD X moded seat that I know of.

I have the mustang touring seat, and I still need the Airhawk seat cushion to be comfortable for 140 mile stretches. I plan on sending the stock seat to BadX for the memory foam mod pretty soon...

Radioman, no matter how you go for a seat...I would get a backrest for yourself......helps take the fatigue out of the back and you can ride longer and more comfortably!!

and the Ultimate does have "exclusive comfort memory foam" (what ever that means)

I first bought a Mustang, but I felt cramped because it moved me forward about 1" from stock. I switched to an Ultimate BigBoy after a year and I'm very happy with it. I think it moves you back about 2" from stock, that's a 3 inch swing. It's also very comfortable and you can get some custom stiching also. I'm 6'2" about 180. I also agree with the driver's backrest. They are a great company to deal with and are very happy to work with you.

Yes, the drivers backrest definitely appeals to me! Also, as far as actual seating position, I do like the position (distance from handlebar, etc.) that I am at with the stock seat, so any aftermarket seat I get I would want to have that same seating position, minus the butt burn and backache of course! :D

Any suggestions on which seat would keep me roughly that same distance that I'm currently at now?

One thing you may want to consider is risers on the handle bars. My chiripractor told me when your arms and/or legs are extended out all the way it is very hard on your neck and back. I believe the risers are the best mod as far as comfort is concerned I have done.

I have a Mustang seat and love it! I bought it before I had found out about BadX and his seat mods...I also have the Aeromach 4" risres and they were the best investment I have made so far. They really change the position you sit in...they moved me back and sat me more upright in the seat...no more shoulder or back strain.

I had the BadX mod' done on my stock 1300c seat w/DOUBLE memory foam & could only ride about another 10 min. than I could w/the stock seat! Everyone seems to LOVE their mod' from them but if you have bad back problems like me, it just didn't do it. Now it IS slightly softer/lower but won't extend my riding past the stocker. Next will be Mustang or Ulltimate. I've had a Mustang before & liked it but can't seem to find an Ultimate anywhere near me to try before I buy.

I went with the Ultimate Low Rider. Ultimate suggested that I use the Big Boy, but, I'm stubborn about how I want my bike to look. I added 4" Aeromach risers and now do daylong saddletime in comfort.

I'm 6'1" and 235 lbs.

I had BadX do the double memory foam on both sections of my seat over the winter...My fiancee' was needing me to stop after only 20 minutes or so on the stock seat....Last Saturday we went on a 30-40 minute solid stretch, and no complaints from the back seat...I also have a screwed up back from falling off a roof when I was a kid, no surgery, but it goes out sometimes while I'm just stretching out....My seat is now perfect after only dropping $250.00 to get it done right...
