My Darkside Experiment

I've got a car tire on my Goldwing and one on my VTX as well.
The Goldwing (GL1800) has a Bridgestone Driveguard on it and the VTX (VTX1800c) has a Yokohama Advan Fleva (205/40R18) on it.
My own experience is that I like the car tire more on my VTX then I do on the Goldwing. Ultimately my intention is to keep the car tire on the VTX and put a motorcycle tire back on the Goldwing.
Both act different then a motorcycle tire in some ways and have some negatives to be sure though I would say that after a collective 25k miles of use I don't feel my own experience matches up with yours.

The flat tire profile finds and fights with any ruts or ridges, forcing you to constantly correct with the front wheel
at walking speeds over irregular surfaces, the rear profile can suddenly and violently pitch the bike. If not holding on tight while maintaining balance and footing, you could easily drop the bike.
The tire tracking the lines in the road or irregularities is 100% a thing though at least in my own experience it's never more then an annoyance and I've never once had it rise to the point of violently pitching or even come close to that.

It's difficult if not impossible to find and set up smooth lines through curves with having to constantly correct
THIS is my single biggest complaint with Darkside tires...the need for more and constant steering input through the course of long sweeping corners.

Everyone experiences things differently and these are just my own observations and not meant to discount your experiences.

Any real cost savings might only come with less frequent replacements.
THIS is really reason I have stayed with Darkside tires as long as I have. I was getting ROUGHLY 4-5k miles per rear tire change on my VTX when I was using motorcycle tires. The car tire I installed was only slightly cheaper then the motorcycle tires I was running BUT I expect the car tire to last +/- 20k miles. I would have replaced at least 4 motorcycle tires over what I project the life of the car tire to end up being.
A substantial savings in both cash as well as my time since I change my own tires.
Good write up, thanks for sharing.
