if any and as many as possible that can take a look at your 1300 final drive mounted on you bike....... would you mind telling me the 3 letters that are stamped/raised on the inside of where the final drive and drive shaft bolts together with the 4 bolts? you would be looking at it through your rim from the disc brake side, you should be able to see these letters on flat inside of the FD housing, its start with the letter 'M'

PLEASE? and thanks in advance

thanks sincerely so much for such quick responses!!! i was given some info on how to tell a 1300 from an 1800 FD. i was told that a 1300 would read MEA and an 1800 would read MCH, i looked at a known 1300 and it read MCH, i have what i was told/hope is a 1300 FD that also reads MCH, when i checked mine on my 1800 it also reads as MCH. so based on this small sampling, this info is not accurate BUT i would like to get as many people to post this info just for curiosity???

as for the urgent help, you guys were a very great help!!!!

THANK YOU!!!! :patriot:

being that the drive housings are interchangeable I would venture to say that the lettering is just a manufactures code so if there is a problem with housings they would be able to trace them.

Nope.
The way to tell is 31 teeth vs 33 teeth on the gear.
At least that is what I've been told.

i wanted to know how to tell the difference between a 1300 and 1800 FD, i was PM'ed the above info. if it was correct, then i would not have done the swap on mine today. since there is really no way to tell the difference between the 2 i will go ahead on faith and hope i have a 1300 FD to swap and install on my 1800! :)

Thanks again for everyone's help!!!

Ride safe and have a great 4th! :patriot::mosh::choppersm

Explain to me why one would swap, what advantages do you gain? I have a 05 1300 C
The 1800 and 1300 have different ratios

If you went to the 1800 final at around 70 you would be turning 300 rpm faster than you are with the 1300 final, the 1800 final on the 1300 also makes it quicker off the line.

The guys with the 1800 want the 1300 final to lower their rpm at cruise by around 300 rpm.
