Do you live in the Keys or travel there? Sam and I are planning a trip down there the 2nd week of September. Been looking for a place to stay for a few nights and ran across this on the web...http://www.keylantern.com/index.htm...We hope to stay 3 nights and if you know of this place or a better rate somewhere else then please let me know. Kitchenetts at 49.00 a night is not bad and fixing 2 meals a day for ourselves will pay for half the cost of the room for 3 nights. We were looking for something in the Big Pine or Marathon area but at 49.00 a night Islamorada sounds good.....We plan on laving Bristol and go to Charleston SC and stay over a night or 2 with my son and then head to Fl and find some place about half way to Key West to stay the night, somewhere in the Palm Coast/Daytona area on a Saturday or Sunday night. If you know the area, help me out with some info.....

We was just there in April. We stayed at Sea ISle Condominium's. Right on the Private Beach. Nice pool. Right in the Middle of the keys. Right below Duck key and Above Marathon. We booked our condo on Homeaway.com. It was pretty darn reasonable to stay there too. The area had alot of good riding around 7 mile bridge. A bunch of fishing in the area. The name of the Island is Key Colony Beach. Just 45 minute's from Key West. Nice riding there. Good Luck safe travel's.:choppersm

Have stayed at the Key Lantern...it was 2 years ago.

It really was just what the add said, nothing special, just clean...my better half can be pretty picky and she was ok with the place and would go back.

...only a few food options right around it. The Islamorada Fish company is great and Lor e lei is a very laid back open bar and grill at the marina right behind it that has a great breakfast and the sunsets are amazing from their bar!!

Islamorada is a pretty good, central spot to stop on the keys but remember that it is still another 80 or so miles to Key West...Have fun!

also stop at a Fl. rest area look in the coupon books, get a coupon for the motel and get rooms as low as 49.00 per night...Very nice motel, tell'em you're on a bike and want to park by the room and they have rooms you can park right at the slidding glass door. 49.00 for the Keys is a good price.

ItsCruz-I don't know if you're on the VTXOA as well, or if he's on here too, but KeyWasted over on the OA is an awesome guy who can give you more tips than you can possible ever use. He's local and quite the fisherman from what I've read. I plan to look him up my next ride to Florida just to say hi!

Best tip I can give you is one I heard from Epi about two years ago on here.... If you would happen to drop your keys in Key West, just kick them all the way back to Miami before you try to pick them up.... Not sure how he knew that but it sounded correct....

Well I only heard from 1 FL member and that was fmyers007. Kind of funny that I got chim in's from IL, NC, OH, IN, WV and Spoiler (as usual, useless).....Guess those FL riders have never been to the Keys or don't want outsiders knowing their secrets). Made reservations at the Key Lantern: 2 double beds w/kitchenette @$49.00 a night.Will be leaving Bristol on Friday the 9th of September stopping in Charleston SC for 2 nights and then around Daytona area for a night stay on the 11th. Checking in to the motel on the 12th and out the door on the 15th. 3 nights for $147.00 was to good to pass up! cschnauf closed the deal for me (thanks) when he said the picky better half was ok with the place and would go back. Dennis I'll keep you posted for your trip but still need to talk to you about the last week end of this month and your trip to Ohio........Padre Blanco, thanks for the tip. I'll make contact with KeyWasted and get some info from him.....thanks.

I got my days off approved today for the days we needed, now if my schedule does not change prior to then all is good. Looks like I will have have another hand full of Nascar Race Tickets for the Aug Night Race coming up. It will be on a Sat night, let me know if you and Granny want to do it. Also hoping to do another ride in the Smoky's in Aug if you guys can swing it for a Friday and Satuday night....Oh, still waiting for a yes on the weekend at the end of this month for the BRP camp out. See you next weekend for the WV ride!

If you are staying in Islamorada stop by the Holiday Isle tiki bar for a couple Key Lime Coolada's, the best drink in the keys imo, was just there in may, gotta love the weather down there...
