So I have an 04 Honda VTX1300 and when I start and don’t give it gas it dies but will run if I give it gas had to ride it home that way, but when I got to every red light and pulled in the clutch to put in neutral it dies on me and I can’t seem to figure it out, this is my main transportation atm while my car gets fixed

I can't say for 100% certain because i haven't messed with the carb on my 04 1300c but if it's anything like a dirtbike (which i imagine it's exactly the same), you just need to adjust your idle (Air/Fuel mixture). I just did a quick search and found a video that will show you how to do this as i had no idea that they conveniently put the knob under the air intake box. In my experience with dirtbikes, this just means that the AF mixture is either too low or too high, most likely too low because too high makes the bike idle very high. Follow the vid and this should fix your issue. Adjusting Idle Speed on Honda VTX 1300 - Bing video Hopefully. Good luck.
Disregard this second message... Being a fool, i hit reply by mistake and i can't figure out how to discard this message. My other post is correct and this should solve your issue.
The stock knob under the air box is NOT an air/fuel ratio adjustment knob (A/F screw). Rather, it is the idle adjustment screw. The A/F screw is in the bottom of the carb and requires a weird D-shaped female tool to adjust it. Most folks buy something called "Glen's permanent A/F screw" for about $30 and this then hangs under the airbox next to the idle adjustment knob.

You can find LOTS of information about carbs, tuning, adjusting, trouble-shooting, etc. by searching here on the VTX Cafe.

Thanks for clarifying. I can absolutely see how i made that sounds like i was talking about the actual A/F screw. From my knowledge (and please correct me if i'm wrong... more knowledge is power), the idle screw adjusts the position of the slide in the carburetor, lowing or raising it which in turn adjusts the amount of air that is being fed to the engine. So it is not an actual A/F screw but it does alter the A/F ratio. Again, i see how that could come off wrong in my initial post.

Edit - Let me correct myself so you don't have to. After doing 30 seconds of research, i learned that i have been wrong all along. The A/F screw adjusts the Air to fuel ratio and all the idle screw adjusts is how much of this mixture is being passed through the carb while idling. Man... i feel kind of dumb that i've been wrong about this for many years but at least i know now.

Another possibility is that your pilot jet is clogged.
