Sorry if this is a repost all the post I found where pretty old. But does anyone know where I can buy a matched set of tires for my 04 1300 s ? I ordered some Pirelli's but they seem to be having trouble getting the front tire. I would prefer to not use Dunlaps.
Thanks

Im kind of curious why no Dunlop, I put a set of Elite threes on my VTX 1800 and thought they were great.

Same here, E3's front and back on my 1800. I've had the front on for about 7000 or 8000 miles and it still looks really good. And it tracks great. Doesnt follow all the little cracks and imperfections in the pavement like that f***ing Avon Venom did. I just got the rear tire on and only have maybe 200 miles on it but it feels great. Really holds the road. A little pricey but in line with the Pirelli's and Metzlers. Cheaper than the Avon's.

Be warned , the Darkside will be flooding this thread soon. I will never betray Obi-Wan !!!

I was running them on a 750 Honda Shadow ace and was only getting about 4 months till they needed replacing and they didn't seem to stick very good after about 3,000 mile's so I was wanting to try something else with my new bike the VTX. I found some Metzeler's have y'all ever used them?

Yep, there's a pretty large Metzler fan base here. I've never tried them so no personal experience but a lot of folks here swear by them. Almost went with the Metz last time but got the E3 for a few dollars less.

So I am coming up on a new front tire as well.

Right now the bike has Dunlops and I would like to stay with them, Made in America.
You guys said that you are running E3s, which one? Radial Ply or Bias Ply???

Whats the advantage over the OEM 404???

Thanks for any information.

E3's are radials. It's just a better tire than the stock 404's. They cost more but they're worth it.

Front tire w/ 6100 miles on it

Rear tire Brand new

Just bought a set of Metzlers for my 2004 1300S from Hondaline direct plus two new tubes to match. Took about two weeks but they had the best price. Only got the front one on so far but that and progressive springs in the front stopped my front end wobble. Much better handling over the stock Dunlops as well. Glad I bought them. Can't wait to get the rear one on.

Yea, I ran a set of metzlers on my rocket and did like them. I just like the idea of buying american if and when possible. (Reasonable price and quality)
When I looked up the E3 tires, i noticed that some of the sizes switch over to a different sizing format. (MT90B16):hmm2:
It also appears that they have them in a 130 and a 150 but not a 140, what size are you guys using?

Thanks

you to huh... i ordered their new Night Dragons back in january. i got my rear tire quick but its going on 2 months now for the front. they keep pushing the delivery date back each time it comes around. now i have to wait till the 26th & hope that it comes in this time. what size front tire did you order? i ordered a 120/70/21.

if not the Pirellis then its Metz all the way. had them on my SS750 & loved them, gripped the road great & the wear was also very good.

140/80x17 when I talked to them Thursday the said it would be 60 more days, third time they changed the delivery date. so I canceled the order and ordered the Metzlers from Dennis Kirk, shipped already says they will arrive Tuesday.

yea they have changed the date on me 3 times as well. but are saying the 26th of this month so we will see. i have the back tire & it is a really good one. if they dont have it the next time around. i will more then likely just have them ship me a Metz. i dont wanna run mix matched tires but i have a 21in HD wheel just begging to be put on the bike.

What ever you decide on, I found that it is just as important to pick the right place to buy them from.
Motorcycle super store guarantee's current rubber. There is a date code on tires and lots of places especially on the web, sell tires that have sat for a long time in a warehouse thus why they are on sale.
I have also found that Motocycle Super Store has pretty good pricing especially when they have a sale going.
By the way, I use the Metz 880's and love them. Great traction right to the end of life which far exceeded my Dunnies life span.
