Hello, I just purchased a 2006 VTX 1300C it has 3750 original miles. The machine runs and drives excellent. I bought Honda because I have been a fan. In my opinion the finest recreational vehicles made. With that said.... What are the things to look out for with this beast besides speeding tickets? Thank You. Walleye Samurai

Welcome from central Pa. high atop the Alleghenies. The 1300 experts will be along shortly, but from what I've seen and heard on here, there is a problem you can research called the "wobble", or "steering bearing wobble". The very first thread on the 1300 section is a lengthy years-old description and how to fix thread. -ALL- 1300's eventually have it due to Honda really scrimping and putting bicycle-like steering bearings on the 1300. Many use a brand called All-Balls to replace them, and many also get them changed at a Tech session. These are an invaluable source of information and learning how to do stuff on your own with expert supervision, and most of the expense from having a dealer do it for you, can be saved and applied for other stuff for the bike. Like a new seat, the stockers are very uncomfortable after a short while. And new rubber, if it's older than 4 or 5 years. Fluids, and tires are susceptible to breakdown as much from non-use sitting, as from use and high miles.

Welcome from Tennessee and wishing you a great day. :patriot: So far my 2009 1300 "C" has treated me as good as I treat her. Five years and 53000 miles and I have replaced clutch micro switch and front brake micro switch, had to pull and clean front brake switch again just last week. Replaced rear drive dampners couple of years ago. Keep up on your maintenance and you will have a happy bike...and owner.

Thank You for taking the time to respond. Lot of open road here in Wyoming" Welcomes All". I have to say that the tires look show room new and I have plans to replace the coolant and brake fluid. I already purchased a mustang 2-up seat. But honestly the tires worry me the most. The rubber isn't weather checked nor worn at all but 8 years old almost new tires kinda spook me. Cant find any information on Dunlop tire degradation. I probably will order new just to appease my mind. Oil? Conventional or Synthetic? Central Pennsylvania and Tennessee Thank YOU. GOD Bless us All.

It doesn't matter if it's a Dunlop or any other, 8 yrs. old is asking for trouble before much longer. It's not so much what you see, it's what you don't see. Mobil 1 4T Racing 10W40 synthetic here.

Welcome from the True North of Ontario Canada.
First thing I did when I picked up my used 09 last year, was to change ALL fluids, and ALL filters. Went with new rubber -<!--StartFragment-->Metzler 888 back tire / Metzler 880 front tire, Which made a huge difference in handling and ride. Also changed the plugs, which were in dire need. Then had some fun adding some much needed lights for the front, and some added brake and signal lights on the back. I figure better if the can at least see you!
You made the right choice by joining this forum, the people here are full of good sound advice and are all very very knowledgeable.
All that is left now, is to ride and enjoy!!<!--EndFragment-->

Mine had 8400 miles when I switched to the Mobil 1, and it's shifted better ever since. Currently at 11, 600. Mine was not ridden for a long time by P.O. before I bought her.
