Hello Everyone!

I'm a New VTX Ape out of Gainesville FL...

About 4 weeks ago I purchased my very first 2006 VTX 1800N with 4,500 miles on it. My whole life I have only owned Harley's and this is my very first "Honda"(anything). My best friend (in NC) has a 2002 VTX 1800R and for the past 15 years would always praise it's name when he brought it down for bike week. Finally...I told him to put his money where his mouth was.... At that time I knew my Road Glide (with the "New 103") could bury his 02 VTX-Retro...especially since I had put every mile on that HOG and I knew how to ride it like a bat outta hell..

It was 10PM (the weekend of my wedding) when I decided we'd put it to the test. Allow me to set the scene...

I had told my friend that if he rode his bike from Charlotte NC to Central FL for my wedding I would meet him half way (In Pooler, GA) and escort him back into the state of FL.I remember I punched the clock at exactly 5 PM that day and jumped on the bike before the rest of the workers on my shift could even grab their car keys and make it out the door. I remember I didn't even let the bike warm up before I peeled out of the parking lot, ran the red light and hit the highway. From work I then went straight to Pooler GA non stop(save for gas once).

For those of you who have never been to Pooler, GA... the ramp off the highway has little to offer other then a few gas pumps and a small "walk up" fried chicken shack. Coming off the exit I was excited to see my friend and ready for a small break from the long ride. We hugged, grab a soda and smoked one or two before jumping back on the bikes and making the long trip back to FL.

We rode from GA to FL and once we had cleared Jacksonville I felt very comfortable alleviating some boredom. I spilt lanes, bobbed and weaved and sped past by friend multiple times in an effort to let him know that I needed a pick me up. I could tell he needed it to. A few minutes later his voice piped into my helmet from the bluetooth "what'cha doin man? You want me to show ya why that Harley aint worth the price tag?" he said. I laughed him off and we dropped our speeds to about 35-40 MPH and lined the bikes up. "3...2...1...GO!" I shouted. His VTX IMMEDIATLEY put me in his rear view mirrors. "AGAIN!" I said over the intercom...clearly P/Oed. We proceeded to do this 3 or 4 more times...he won every single time.

NOW that I have owned this Neo for about a month I understand the HOW and the WHY. I have seen the "light" and I am now a proud VTX owner!!!

Info about the Bike: The Bike was purchased with the Paint Job that it has now (Which I LOVE LOVE LOVE) and most of the chrome you see on it. Since it's purchase I have made the following Upgrades: Cobra Fatty Highway Bars, Kuryakyn Long Horn Highway Pegs, GEN 3 "Day Maker" headlight By Eagle Lights, a K&N air filter, and hard painted Viking Saddle Bags. I have also order a Vector Batwing Fairing complete with a Rockford Fosgate Audio system that will be added to the bike once machined and picked up ( about 4 weeks from today).

Welcome from central Pa. high atop the alleghenies. Beautiful ride! A fairing w/ tunes makes for great cruising, which is what the 1800 was meant to do, but by pushing a lot more air(resistance), you might not win as many drag races.
