I wish this law that passed in Illinois would go national!!

A new law that will go into effect in 2013 stipulates that since motorcycles are sometimes not able to trip the magnetic sensors at traffic lights, they will be able to pass through the light.

The new law states that after a "reasonable" amount of time waiting at a red light, the motorcycle will be able to proceed if there are no other oncoming cars. The law will not cover any motorcycles traveling in cities where the population is over 2 million people.

I can't tell you how many times I waited, then waited some more until I just went waiting for a light to change that I knew wouldn't by my own presence alone.

Damn! That's news to me. I guess I should ask an expert locally then (hopefully not after the fact :) )

Idaho and Washington both have it. I think Idaho is one cycle or two minutes at lights that use sensors. Not sure about WA.

It is something like waiting reasonable time, then proceeding with caution. They don't define how long to sit.

I've never had issue on this bike.
Some lights just take forever to switch even in cage.
Waiting 30+ seconds for a light to change at 230am is annoying but I'm used to it.

i dont have a problem waiting for lights here...
Either that or you'll find the local hookers...
Thats a different law altogether, I don't think you have wait 90 seconds with them.
90 seconds for soiler with a "lady of the red light"...according to the ladies that know him, that would be 60 seconds too long

Same in Oregon
Reasonable time or 2 cycles of the lights.

Have a few that get me and I do the wait and then go.

Heck there is one I have to motion the car behind me to move closer to trip it, they think I am nuts

I'm guilty, I just go when it is obvious it is not going to change. Don't care where I'm at or if there is a cop around. I just don't play that game. Never got a ticket and I have done it in front of cops and places where accidents were going on at the time.lol If it's clear and the light does not appear to be changing, I go.
