Hey guys I am in Plainfield. Bought my first bike last year. Only gone to work in Schaumburg and took a short ride down the fox river. Any suggestions for the area?
Hey panther, welcome to the VTX cafe forum! ...There's quite a few VTX'rs by the Schaumburg (where ya work) and surrounding areas. Besides finding VTX riders around your place of residence, Plainfield, if you wanna expand your VTX line of friends around Schaumburg after ya get off work, check out the VTXOA forum for Two-Wheel Tuesdays which is just an informal gathering of VTX motorcycle enthusiasts from all over more less from northern/western parts of Illinois. :choppersm

I could suggest rides but nothing as specific as fox river. One ride I like is to follow route 12 to Lake Geneva WI. From Schaumburg, you'd take route 53 up to 12 and then hop on 12 going north west. Form there, you are mostly led to the small town in WI. Use google maps for final directions to get down town but it's a nice ride. Most of route 12 is reasonably high speed but yet not highway speeds.

I know a lot of IL riders like to go to Galena. I couldn't say how to get there from Plainfield but you could probably route something with google maps.

Welcome from Elkhart,Indiana!

We lived in Crest hill in the 80's. I rode to Aurora and Oak Forest to work (Cap World). The area has changed so much.

Here's an idea for a ride, come to the tech session in New Prairie, Indiana! I bet you could ride in with some other members....

Welcome aboard
I like just taking Rte 72 and heading west, or 25 north until it disappears into Barrington.
If you are up for longer rides my favorite is to Door County. Just take I-94 north then I-43, drop of highway in Monitowoc and follow rte 42 by the Lake.
Stop for a wine tasting and lunch in Algoma (just a sip, don't get to exited), ride around peninsular of Door County, have some Swedish pancakes at Al Johnson's in Sister Bay or fish boil in Ellison Bay and head back home. All together some 600 miles.
The other option take rte 64 to Mississippi and follow the great river to Dubuque.
Just keep the shiny side up.

Welcome from Romeoville.

I'll suggest Starved Rock. Many ways to get there; rode them all myself over the years. Rt 6 thru the small river towns is the best.

Perhaps you'd be interested in the Freedom Run 6/13. Been doing that for five years.
