new vacuum hose changes things

Just wanted to share and maybe get an opinion.

Long story short I added some ground LEDs to the VTX and accidentally broke the vacuum hose that connects to the fuel switch when I was lifting the tank.
Replaced the hose after a temporary fix and now the bike feels different. GOOD, but different.

I know I have an exhaust leak, because of the occasional backfire from before.. BUT NOW I have a beautiful crackle when I decel with a more occasional backfire.
Is that normal after a vacuum change? Would you adjust your throttle to compensate or let it crackle?

I would also replace the hose(off the tank) on the right side that goes into the carb I think.

Gas mileage is down significantly, 5 days later. Gonna replace the gaskets on the exhaust and probably take the time to line them up a bit better. A previous owner did some damage.

P.S. Working on my lawn mower's carb so my senses have to be dulled... but I think I smelled gas when I parked the bike before the storms come in. Now I'm really curious as to what is going on with the bike's history.

Noticed the bike was laggy, so I got to looking and found this. Don't see any open spots for it.. so now I'm wondering what the heck??

Vacuum Line T is exposed/unplugged? Any ideas?
from afar

Will also be changing vacuum lines entirely, soon.. I have the manual and the diagrams, but they just don't line up exactly right for me. :/ Does anybody have a vacuum line diagram somewhere?
Figured it out. The T was to connect the carb to the fuel filter to the block to the petcock. I skipped the T because I thought the rubber was broken, turns out I must have slipped it off.

Cut the new hose from the block to the petcock, slipped the T in. Runs like a champ. :)
