Hello everyone. I picked up my new bike yesterday afternoon and brought it home. It's been around 7-8 yrs since I last rode so I was a little nervous. After riding a few minutes, it all came back to me. My last bike was a 1987 VT700. Huge difference. I almost wish now that I had went with the 1800R. I sold my Jeep Rubicon to get this bike so we could build a new house. Why have a $30 Jeep sitting in the drive that I rarely drive when I could have a bike. I don't think I'll regret it. I sure missed riding all this time....

Welcome. I think you will learn to love the 1300. Much less cumbersome than the 1800 and definitely fast enough for legal riding...lol Now the "real" money gets spent on all the add-on goodies.

Welcome aboard!
I have the C model, and as pearlwhitevtx said, you'll learn tol ove the 1300. I had the same dilemna when I purchased my 1300C. In my opinion the 1300 does handle better and gets better as mileage (I get 41city,52hwy). 2 up riding is no problem for the 1300 either!

Welcome JP33,

I picked up a Silver 05 1300R a little over a month ago. I havn't ridden since I was in college, and was itchin to get back in the saddle. My last bike was a 250, so the prospect of getting a 1300 was a little intimidating. Orginally, I was thinking of the 750 Aero, but when I saw the 1300, I was hooked. The 1300 is so comfortable to ride, it holds it's own on a busy highway, and gets great gas mileage.

The windshield is a great addition, I got the Memphis Shade. My only mistake was not going ahead and getting the lowers. National Cycle has cool chrome lowers, but I'm not sure if it will work with the Memphis shade. Personally, I think crash bars are a great investment. My neighbor and I were backing it down a ramp, and it fell over on gravel. The crash bar kept it from getting even a small scratch, and made it much easier to pick up.
