I have an 07 VTX 1800 C 8600 miles. I’m not sure if it’s got a slight oil burn issue. The reason I am askiing is if I have the bike warmed up and bring the motor up to about 4 grand or so, and let off quickly I see some slight discharge out of the exhaust. Not necessarily blue or black smoke and It’s not all of the time and it’s ever-so faint. Is this something to be concerned about. Valve guides possibly? I’ve not checked compression or done a leak down yet. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I think oil burning is pretty uncommon. I get some black smoke when mine is still cold. Is it steam or water vapor from a cool morning?

Not necessarily. They are lean to pass emission laws.

Black is unburnt gas. Bluish/gray is oil.

Yup, and white is a blown head gasket.

This is very uncommon. I never heard about the oil burning I hope now your problem is solved.
