Ok so I am trying to figure out the best way to connect my radio/amp without harming my electrical system. Several years ago I put a power distribution block under the left side cover. I thought it was wired hot all the time and therefore, needed a relay to connect my radio. What I found when I pulled off the seat was that I have the distribution block fused with a 30 AMP fuse and it is SWITCHED via an ignition wire. So, the block is only hot when the bike is on.

So here is my question. Will it do any harm if I wire the radio/amp to this switched block without a relay or should I also install a relay just for extra protection?

Appreciate all input.

This is driving me just a bit crazy.

Regards to all,
Jack

What you may want is a constant power for the memory of the radio.
And charging Phone at will.

If HID is in the future - I'd want separate switch for power to him anyway.
Radio/amp could also be on that switch -
Some electronics don't like the hugh voltage surge of crank mode then sudden voltage rise firing up.

Push the start switch if the power block relay does NOT shut off the block you can and will burn up the start switch from overloading the system

The switched power is activated when the key is on. The power distribution block is on a relay. So I guess I am safe. Thanks for the input.
