Wife had been looking for a low cost supplier to offer cheaper insulin.... aka cost us less..

yesterday, wife called a well known provider offering her a great price of $41.00 per month for insulin.
she signed up... selected a new doctor near us...

later the agent called back.... the $41.00 is only for the first month... its $800.00 a month after that..
so we have to wait to Monday to TRY to cancel the new enrollment...

her current cost is $140.00 per month..

I am so pissed, she was to look for help with insulin cost... NOT change our provider or its package.

I have not eaten anything since 3pm... no sleep... sick as can be...
having trouble keeping coffee down.. I am so upset.

before that so called affordable health care act came to be,...my health ins was 90.00 a month. Afterwards,...1300.oo a month. I'm in perfect heath,..non smoker nor drinker.
To me that was robbery so i self insured. Then got hit with the yearly 700.oo cost of NOT doing biz with the usurped industry. Call it Political or NOT it is outright thievery that has happeded and continues happening thanx in large part to the last set of socialists that set the Law in place. IE,..Shrillerly and bathousebarriO'.

Chuck, I'm not to sure about the laws there, but are you able to get the insulin in Mexico and bring it back across the border? I know a lot of Americans were coming up here to get insulin for 1/10 the cost. It was a big concern up here that there might be a shortage due to all the Americans buying it. Geez, Big Pharma really does have a choke hold on the people. I hope this works out for you and your wife.

as Indy said is MY FEAR.... even if it was Cut with clean water.
plus the LONG lines crossing the border..
going south is 2 minutes..
but going North could take 3 to 6 hours...
maybe 2 hours if I had a US passport. ( $100.00 )

My 'computer guy' yesterday told me his Dad was in a local hospital, an hr. & half by car from Pittsburgh. His Dad needed some test/ treatment that only a Pittsburgh hospital could do. After a week & a half, his Dr. here finally decided to Life-Flight him to PGH, a half hr. trip by air. They told him once he arrived and checked him, he was beyond their help, he should have gotten looked at as soon as he checked in the local hospital. He then passed away, and subsequently my guy got a bill from Life Flight for $30K. Thats right, a bill for $1,000 bucks a MINUTE for being in the air. He refused to pay for their raping him, and subsequently got them down to $15K which he's still fighting.

Yesterday I got my yearly statement from my UPMC hospitalization network. With my knee replacement, my kidney stone, and subsequent urinary tract infection, my total costs for 2019 came to over $ 64 K. UPMC agreed to cover about half that, meaning that is what the hospitals and Dr.'s accepted. MY share was $2700. I'll take that anytime. This post was not meant to 'brag', as some maybe have no coverage, or crappy plans. It's only to inform others thinking of major medical issues or maybe wishing to change or update policies.

I'm sorry. Regional health care dispenser: University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. FYI, I am "in network" if I am in Fla. They have multi-state coverage in the east. The other big local coverage is Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. They are the main one but UPMC is giving them competition. The bigger local hospital where I had my stone lasered and urology issues accept our UPMC. I'm paying $80/ mo. for my plan. Again, not brag, but disclosing for others' comparisons.

Chuck I am very sorry for the situation you are in. It is a horrible way for anyone to get treated , especially when they/You are in need of medical care. ACA got rammed down the throats of the people as a “Solution” to high cost when all it did was take money from those that already had care and gave it to people with no care. Then all of our cost went up.

I forgot to mention my Med Care is mainly Medicare, and the over-and-above costs are my UPMC policy. I'm currently 69.

Fran, YES a helicopter ride for health is $1k-2k per minute...
several stories down here... last year down here.. there were NO helicopter support.
they closed down.. and filled for bankruptcy . a New company started up last month.

helicopter, pllot, second operator, med nurse, equipment/support, take-off and landing fee's.

fyi.. the city I lived at in Ohio.. a few years ago..built a hospital with helicopter pad.. and got service from Akron....
after 2 years .. the city shut down the use of the heli pad/operation.. stating to much noise to home owners.

a little reading

I think the point I and my friend was trying to make was, his Dad was in the local hospital for well over a week -before- his Dr. made the call to send him to Pitts. an hr. and a half by car, that could have been made before it was too late. And avoided a flight and gi-normous bill.

What a pity your countries health system lets you down. Here in Australia almost all things like this are govt subsidised. Id say it would be $40 a month if you are working or $6 a month if on low income. Seeing a doctor is free. Yes, this country has other problems but being sick or disabled should not be something that causes you to look out of country

Insurance, LIED to my wife about the new coverage.
within 1 hour.. she called to cancel new plan.
they said it was stopped..
LIED again.. few days later she received new med cards..
then letter stating SS will be paying for the transferred insurance program.

and NO letter of all this was canceled.. and the 'old' choice will remain in place..

they LIE at every step.

<snip>Here in Australia almost all things like this are govt subsidised. <snip more>
Government has no money to subsidize anything unless it has previously taken this money from your fellow citizens. It is not "government subsidized". It is "fellow citizen subsidized". This may be a good thing or it may be a bad thing but it is important to remember the source of any money the government doles out.

Everyone in Australia pays into the healthcare system. It's a system that works pretty dang well. Think social security but instead of retirement that money is used to fund healthcare. Not saying it's perfect but it works for them. That's enough on it without this turning into a political thread. :)

Without getting political, this is exactly why socialism eventually fails.
