-Does the fan kick on and off?i love my 03 1800vtx c but i hate the heat it seems that even riding on 40 degrees its allways hot more so than any other bike i owned, any sugestions on how to install a bigger fan or just deal with it .
A properly tuned liquid cooled engine with a properly functioning cooling system will run the same temperature, regardless of displacement...Doesn't matter if it's a VLX 600 or a VTX 1800...Thermostat in the cooling system controls the coolant temperature...But a lean running engine will run hotter due to the A/F ratio being off...- Have you ridden large CC bikes before? Not that I think that is really the issue -- but 1800 CCs of engine will have an overall higher amount of heat coming off the whole system as opposed to a 1300 or 800 etc.

But all this goes right out the window with an air cooled bike...
Funny you mention that because while my VTX doesn't have a temp indicator, my CBR's dash has a digital temp guage. When it comes up from cold start it's not warmed up and stable until 172F, if I keep moving and even flying around it'll max at about 175~177.+1
The temp should never reach more than around 185,
