Hey y'all, new to the site but have been reading and watching a while. I have an 07 VTX1300R I picked it up for $600 it has a few problems, but is a beautiful bike. It has some carb problems, will start and run without choke, but is sluggish and have to pull out choke a little to get above 65-70. Currently have it apart to do a carb rebuild, the drain screw is buggered and is weeping like it was over tightened. I cannot find this screw anywhere. The only option I'm seeing is to buy a whole new carb at $400-$500. Does anyone know if there is another option? A metric bolt from hardware store? Thread tape? Any Thoughts greatly appreciated

eBay used carb.

If you are using the enricher (not a choke) you are dumping fuel into motor and plugs probably fouled up black as coal.

Just drill and tap the drain screw to the next size that you can find a shouldered bolt for. Then find a fuel rated washer.

I use that drain anytime I'm about to pull the bowl, to get the fuel out without getting it everywhere. In the winter I always leave fuel in the lines and carb with a full tank (with fuel stabilizer).

If it isn't too bad, you could just chase the threads with the same pitch tap.
