Hey, are any of you members of the Patriot Guard Riders? My girl and I were at a stop light on the bike today and about 100+ riders rode by. They were all in their full leathers with American flags and POW/MIA flags in hand. It was kind of moving and I am thinking of joining.

I joined to try and show my thanks to the men and women who risk it all for our freedom. I've never served, but I have the utmost respect for those that do and did.

I have been one 1 mission to a fallen Marine in Sandusky, Ohio. I've never cried so hard in my life as I did when the hearse bearing his casket went past me. I was standing w/ about 35 others, holding a 4' X 6' American flag, but it didn't seem nearly enough......

I've considered joining but I'm not sure I could handle it emotionally. I'm pretty sure I would end up like OldBlue, standing in a puddle of tears. I have 2 sons and daughter-in-law in the Army. One son has been to Iraq once and may be going back later this year.

I am in the National Guard, full time, have deployed with them once, and am a member of the Patriot Guard. I went on few missions, but could no longer go after the last one. Too emotional for me being so close to fallen brethren...

It IS a great organization to belong to though if you can. No better way to support the troops than to make sure the troops still serving KNOW that thier brother/sister is taken care of when they come home.

I am a PGR member, but unhappily haven't ridden a mission yet. I live close to Fort Huachuca so unfortunately there seem to be plenty of opportunities to perform a mission my area. My job on Fort Huachuca involves training soldiers to survive in places like Iraq, so I have to give precedence to that mission over the PGR mission. So far, every scheduled PGR mission has been in conflict with my work schedule. I'll participate soon, I'm sure.

I read and looked at some of the stuff on the PGR website a while back..Very nice thing to do. I think I will join the PGR when I get a bike. My bike dreams are on hold for a spell. Torn ligament in my ankle right now..... possible surgery. Other life issues seem to have bogged me down a bit. But soon....

I've been shopping for a spell now, and I'm pretty stuck on the VTX 1300c. Not to mention the folks here..... it makes a great bike even better.

On the side... my oldest girl, Meghan, will ship off for somewhere in the region 1APR. She's a United Sates Marine. She is my hero. If you're prone to such things, say a prayer for she and her commrades.

I haven't decided if I will join when I get back or not. After my reaction to memorial services here, it may take a while before I can do that back home. I may just have to ride by and give my respects for the time being.

I am a member. I have decided to join this org simply because its the right thing to do. We send these prime, young, smart people to defend our country so that we have the rights to enjoy our simple lifes. these ladies and gentlemen see and do things that we only wish to do then there is the, for lack of a better term, dark side. They have to put up with people yelling at them, screaming things like "die american pig", "go home you yanky scum", "you capitist whore". they return home to no parades like our grandparents recieved after WW2, Noone handing them business cards saying things like "give me a call we can use somone with your skills". In another post there was a company that refused to do business with a serving soldier because they didn't agree with the soldier. My great grandfather was a doughboy, he had to fight for his gas mask when the Germans used mustard gas. My grandfather was at "the Buldge", I have serval uncles that have served in Korea, and Vietnam. I went to school with a kid that was border line Einstien and he went to Desert Shield later Desert Storm, another classmate was sent to a mountain and that is all he can tell us. These Brave young people deserve our graditude for everything they do and have to put up with just to make it safe. So joining the Patriot Guard seemed like the right thing to do. I have never served but I was just a pen away from signing on the dotted line to be a Marine. My medical history interviened, you see I have eplipsey and even though I have not had a siezure since I was 14, the Marines didn't want me, I should say, the reqruiter didn't want to mess with the paperwork involved so he never followed thru and of course I didn't as well.. So the next better thing was to join the PGR. I can show my graditude and still make a impression with those that do serve by being there to say "Welcome home and Thank you" That is why I joined the Gaurd.

No disrespect Buda jim, but that's a good thing. If you do go on a mission, it's usually (but not always) because we've lost one of our brave soldiers.............

You're sure right about that Oldblue. I would be happy to NEVER have the opportunity (or need) to attend any funerals for our returning heroes. However, that has not been the case. Freedom isn't free!

I'm a member and have made a few missions. My work gets in the way but I go when I can. The welcome home missions are the happy ones. Did echo taps mission at the National Cemetery on Veterans Day weekend. The small turnout was somewhat depressing. But there were several Veterans there that were glad we came.
