Check the battery cables...If they're loose, they'll do exactly what you just described...Tighten them with a 10mm socket, not a screwdriver....
Well after deciding to go ahead and mess with it tonight, it was the connections it seems, or at least they were both pretty loose. Suprising it ever make enough contact to start the dang thing. Went ahead and took off the wiring harness that connected the after market heated hand grips I never used (came on the bike). I also added my new Kuryakyn chrome dual usb port as well while I had the tank and the seat off. Went pretty smooth. Took it out for a test ride and gas fill up and never reproduced the original problem soooooo, I am hopeful that the loose terminal was it but as everyone knows, electrical bugs come and go as they damn well pleaseCheck the battery cables...If they're loose, they'll do exactly what you just described...Tighten them with a 10mm socket, not a screwdriver....
