I just got a new set of grips for my 13C. The grips that came with the bike were once nice but the rubber parts have started coming unglued from the chrome/metal part and the chrome is pitted pretty bad so I purchased some low key inexpensive pro grip brand grips. Here are the ones I bought, of course I got the 1" variety: http://www.motosport.com/cruiser/product/PRO-GRIP-862-TOURING-GEL-GRIPS/?id=122166

I smeared some glue on and tried to get one grip on the clutch side and it just would not go on. It seemed to be just too small to slide on there. So I put it down and grabbed the other identical grip (they were not labeled as side specific) and it slid on very easy. So I tried putting the troublesome grip on the throttle side and had the same problem. In fact I got it on about 3/4 of an inch and the rubber actually started to bulge out as if it were way too small. Do you think I just accidentally got a non matching set? I have never had this much trouble with grips.

First off, always test fit any part that has to be glued on. Not sure what the problem is but it says they will fit a 7/8ths or 1" bar. If so then it should have a insert reducer for the 7/8" bar. By any chance is there a reducer in one of the grips? In looking at the picture it looks like the grips are marked LEFT and RIGHT.

Nope, in the pics on the site they are labeled "left" and "right" but the ones I received are identical.

and yeah, test fitting woulda been a good idea, probably shouldn't work on the bike in a half lit shed after midnight....

I just got new grips last week, and they aren't the same internal diameter. The throttle side is slightly larger to accommodate the throttle housing that it slides over.

Funny, I was hoping your post was about the other sizing problem I had- my grips weren't quite long/deep enough. There is a 1/4" gap between the grips and the controls.

my iso grip install took less than 5 minutes, but very definitely the throttle side grip has to be bigger inside diameter than the cluth side. If you got two grips the same size, they will never work even if you were able to get the clutch side on. I'd return them asap if you can. :icon_pist Bry

as much as I wanted gel grips I had to have some grips just to ride. I stopped by the local cycle gear and picked up some bikemaster grips that look kinda like this. They were a pretty decent price and at least this way I can ride now!! I think I will put in a few overtime hours for some ISO's in the near future.
