Ok, looking to do this soon, the wobble is coming in fast. What specialty tools do I need, and where to get them? Any one rig their own? How long did it take u to do the switch? Did u all do it according to the repair manual, or is there a better route? And anything else you think I need to know.

are new bearings gonna be any better than the old ones? or are they gonna die off quickly too?
Yes, because the new bearings are designed differently. The 1800 type replacement bearings are taper pin bearings. When you change the bearings I strongly recommend replacing the front tire as well, because it's already a victim of improper wear, and there is no way to fix the old tire

When I changed my bearings, I took it to a cycle shop (not the dealer). The bearings cost less than $30 and I purchased the ones from All Balls.

In the past, tire wobble has been a function of wheel runout. Occasionaly Dunlap has problems, and the tires are not concentric. As the tire wears, it gets worse. Try putting your bike on a lift, and spin the front tire. If the tread pattern doesn't run true, you have found your problem.

Which bikes (1300 C, R or S) need to have the bearings replaced? Is it a recall or just a maintenance advisory, or just good advice, or?

All 1300's and it should be a maintenance issue addressed and paid for by Honda. However at this point it is just great advice from the Café.
