Hello all! just joined, and there seems to be alot of useful info.
first off i am tall (6'5) i am wanting a seat that will let me move my butt back toward the rear and without actually being able to sit on one of the aftermarket seats, who knows what i am getting for my money? Also, i wanted to know if there is a cheap alternaitve to moving my footboards forward ? or if i am going to be stuck buying a set of forward controls and having the dealer put them on ($1000 I really don't care to spend).

And lastly, I was listening to the "exhaust sounds' and although my computer speakers suck! It didnt seem like all that much of a difference between drilling the holes in the stock exhaust, the JC whitney 'cheepos' and the big shots.

Any help is appreciated. THANKS

Welcome rogerb! I just finished the Cayton Root mod (drilling holes in stock pipes) and it seems to work well for me. Check out the thread "Drilled Out My Pipes!".
Send a PM to Bad-X concerning the seat issue. He will re-upolster your stock seat, and from what I have read , everyone is very pleased with the resilts if you like the stock seat. I wanted to go this route, ut my other half likes to ride and the passenger seat was insufficient, so I purchased a Saddleman Explorer seat. This seat will also move you back (which I want too). A friend of mine is sending Bad-X his seat to him this weekend. Hope this info helps a little!

I also am 6'5" tall but I ride a vtx 1300c. I have the mustang vintage wide touring seat (no studs) on my bike as does my father on his 1300s. The reason I got the mustang seat was how comfortable I felt on his bike. I could ride for hours on it. Also I would definetely suggest a heal/toe shifter because big guys like us have big feet. Also getting back to the mustang seat my mom rides everywhere with him and loves the added cushion the mustang seat provides. My wife loves ours also. You can check it out here at http://www.mustangseats.com/honcontst.htm. Hope it works out for you.

My Opinion

It's been my experience that you get what you pay for. As far as the El cheapo pipes. You'll proably have more problems than sound. Save your bucks and buy a good pipe or drill out your stockers. As far as the seat I've tried most of them but the Ultimate and planing to get one of these this month. The Mustang is in my opinion the best sitting seat on the Market. It will sit you forward about an inch or so. If you want to stay on the less money side, You my want the Bad-X mod.

i am 6'5 as well, i would recomend the jardine forward controls from xtreme revolution. has made a great difference in riding position, moves controls 4.5 in forward and about 1in up. works great with my big feet(size 15)

Floor Boards

You could always trash the stock board and go with baron's long boards or other's. They would be a longer, wider, board than stock but they'er pricey too. You could also cut and re-weld the stock floorboard mounts and move them forward. But this would not do anything for the controls. Maybe someone will chime in with another responce. Sorry GG

thanks. I would REALLY like to just have the mounting brackets modified (projected forward) and keep the floor boards, but then your right, that doesnt do anything for the controls. Thanks

ok i bought the MAPAM forward controls from Honda direct. Got them for under $500 delivered. had my V&H Cruzers and the foot controls installed by the dealer. $239 for both. I didnt think that was too bad.

Sounds like a pretty good deal. Do you like the new mods?;) GG
I do. Now i just need to get the seat right. With the forward controls, I think I'd like my seat back about 1-2" (probably will only be able to get 1") and I am thinking actually 1 " lower. that would keep my legs out in front of me, if that makes sense?

LOVE the pipes. Forward controls make a big difference too. so now i think the last two 'comfort' mods are the seat and handle bar risers and just possibly new handle bars and I should be good to go for a while.

rogerb, I'm 6'5" as well. I recommend the mustang seat. I used to have the seat on my 2001 Vulcan 800 classic. Great seat, very comftrouble and it sat me in to the bike about 1" to 2". I have not bought the mustag seat for my X b/c of no $$$$$, as soon as I get $$$$ I will be adding it. Another thing to do and it's very comftrouble is adding a crash bar and pegs. It feels great during those long rides to stretch the legs
