R Dragger bags

I need/want opinions.. along with the "C" I have been working on a different version of the R bags, that I am currently calling Draggers.

1. should I make them? It cost a pretty penny to make a mold and I don't really want to go wasting it on something no one will want.

2. Do you think the lights should be horizontal or vertical one on each side or two.

Where would the license plate go?
Nice look, love the design, definitely horizontal for the blinkers/stops, then you could use the motion LEDs that sweep outwards giving more indication of intentions.
+1 on where do ya put the License Plate? and What about those that don't have the dual setup for pipes? I would need to change my pipes as I have cobra speedster shorts and they only make it to the axle bolt. I fear at idle I would heat up the bottom of the bags and melt thru them on the right side.

just my 2c

I was thinking that the plate could hang under the rear, either in the middle or off to one side. If put on the left side it would hang parallel to the ground when parked. I am planning on putting mine in the middle on a motor so when the bike is turned off it would turn up under the bike keeping it a clean look. Talked to a local leo and said he really didn't see a problem if your not parking on the street. I never do that except for bike week and police aren't looking for that stuff anyway..

I thought about leaving the plate in the stock location but it didn't work.

As for the pipes, the same thing as the standard R bags. The bottom of the bags will be moved up to clear your pipes so no need to change your pipes. Fiberglass can handle a lot of heat and a heat shield can be installed of that ends up being a concern.
Those look awesome. Light set up looks good horizontal. But I also agree with further wrapping around so intentions could be seen better. That's why I bought long LED light set up to wrap around the corners of my saddle bags.
I guess I'm putting the plate back to its stock location.

Still not sure if I should even make these or not.
+1 on the horizontal lights.

I think the design is really cool but agree, I'm not sure how much of a market there is for hard bags on an extinct bike. You got skills on the fabbing, that's for sure
I think you are on to something. I have the QQ bags and really like the form fitting look but hate that the maker of the bags is in Vietnam and has fallen off the face of the earth since complaints about his bags started rolling in. Your R bags look like they are of great quality but did not appeal to me because I like the tight to the fender look. If you were to start making a bag that appealed to the QQ crowd, you might be on to something. It would be very nice to have a manufacturer in the states that will actually not hide if there is an issue.

As for your design, I would put the lights horizontal. Another suggestion would be to form the back of the bags to the tip of the fender instead of wrapping around. You need to also consider a license plate light if you keep the current design. It is the law in all 50 states. Some potential buyers might not buy if it puts them in violation of the law. Just my .02 cents.
Glad someone is taking the time to come up with a custom design. I really like the design of the QQ bags though. If I was gonna spend that kind of money I think I would go in that direction. Little too much going on in the back for my taste. Definitely a thumbs up for your creativity.

Moved the plate to the middle and frenched it in. Lights are required in all 50 and led bolt lights is an easy fix for that.
I didn't think people wanted another bag that looked like what someone else was making. The problem with the "bettlebag" design is they end up not having much room inside.

If I get enough PM's with request for that design I may consider a redesign.
this is what I did wit the plate.

and for the lights I am using the bumper lights from the Mazda3 2010+

Honest opinion? I say if you are going through to much work to save the stock fender and light. Looks a little off that way

Looks good!
Cool design. I like the frenched plate. For the lights, horizontal or vertical either loos fine. With all that room on the back maybe you could make two X's with led lights for the tail lights?
Might look kinda wierd though.

If I made a fender to go along with it it would add cost and it would end up getting very pricey. It would be like making a third bag. People are moaning about having to move a licence plate, how much would they whine about changing the whole fender. I dont want it the be a big deal to put these on.
That's really awesome however I personally would not put them on my C. I've been hoping someone would come up with something really cool for the C but I would like to see something a little more ....svelte? I guess that's the word I'm looking for.
I would seriously consider buying a set and you can contact me if you need to make another set for testing and evaluation, wink wink nudge nudge. I will come and help build them even. [email protected]
I feel like the tail light should be removed. It looks like it does not belong. Then you could finish wrapping it around. It would look like you have a new fender without having it. Someone already mentioned it, but I feel it should be said again, you got skills. I hope things work out for you, this is some nice looking stuff.
I think once that they are painted body color everything will flow better. I ran into the same thing with the standard R bag, if you go back and look at those on my bike black and painted they look allot different.
