‘02 1800c. Radiator lower left fan mounting bolt has busted out of the radiator housing. Wtf. Anyone had any luck or knowledge of welding this back together?

Dang, that looks near impossible to repair. Can you find a used radiator - perhaps from a motorcycle junkyard?

What about you try J&B weld or some type of epoxy only if a radiator shop won’t touch it.

I would put a piece of metal to help cover the hole then use epoxy to keep it there.

A shop can fix this? That piece fits right back in. Just need it welding tight obviously. Lol. I’ll che k out a garage that has more welding knowledge than I. Not sure JB weld will hold this heat and pressure.

Something like that maybe needs brazed? IDK. Welding that may not be practical. Brazing may not be strong enough though. I'm not a metallurgist or welder. Please find someone who is an expert.

It’s aluminum and that is weird to weld. I’ll call around. Keep y’all posted. I found someone on here selling one. Hope that works out. Thanks y’all.

I could easily be wrong on this so check with experts. I seem to recall that radiator holes/cracks are often repaired using something called "silver soldering". I do not know what silver soldering is but perhaps you could look into it. Any kind of solder would be unaffected by the temperatures seen in a radiator.

I urge caution. No offense to Bryron but he is a new member with no track record. He has not posted any information about himself or his bike and his posts are curiously short and infrequent. These are all suspicous activities. I hope that I am wrong. I strongly recommend that you ONLY use some form of payment that offers guaranteed satisfaction. That break in the pic is way beyond silver solder.

Bummer. I was hoping that might work for Flyingfrogs19. But it appears he has a used one on the way so now doesn't need to repair the old one.

I believe it could be repaired, just not a simple backyard fix. Get a competent radiator shop to try it. Much cheaper than a new radiator.

Hard to tell from the pictures but it seems like it could probably be TIG welded.

If you are going to take it to get welded, have them reinforce the welds on the lower mounts on the front of the radiator too. Those are prone to cracking and leaking too. JB weld will definitely not work, too much pressure, and expansion/contraction of the aluminum with heat to hold well. If you do try to solder it yourself, you will need special flux and solder. Aluminum is difficult to solder due to the vast number of variations in alloys and how rapidly it oxidizes which prevents a solid bond. It would definitely be best to take it to a professional welder to have it repaired.
