Hey all, the other day I had to do some low speed tight turning on the X and I ended up wedging the handlebars up against my leg and almost dumping the bike. I'm 6'3 310 lbs. Does it sound like I need risers? Bars? If so, anyone have any recommendations?

If you like the look of the stock bars, Then I would say the Areomach 4 in. risers would be a good choice. I love what you've done with the bike. The Color, the Bags, The Seat, Pipes, all flow very well. I personaly wouldn't go wild with bars and change the look you have going on. I think I'd stick with the risers. And again, Love the mods and congrads on a job well done. GG :D

Just as the other posts state, if you like the OEM set up then risers, as stated earlier, are your best bet. Ive been told that when you make a tight turn, as you mentioned, your hands should pass over your leg with at least 1/2 clearence, to prevent what you stated happened. This is just knowledge my father passed along to me from his riding days and that is what I use when considering pullback and or risers. follow thread for more posts and check out the other threads for some info as well. many good riding days friend.:drunk:
Nice mod BTW very clean and smooth look.

Thanks for the words of wisdom as well as the compliments guy's. Any idea where I should get those Areomach risers? Will I need to lengthen the cables? Install is fairly simple.....no?

PS very easy to install maybe 15mins same cables just got to be careful easy to scratch stuff while handle bars are lose a buddy would come in handy.
Can you keep use the 4 inch risers and still keep everything stock with the cables? I don't want to worry about lengthening the cables.

I had to rearange the little cable clips on the handlebars but that was it stock cables seem to be fine. I would say 4 inch's is max before you go with longer cables but 4 is ok. I think, You might want to ask the other guys for their 2cents.

If you just want to go up, try loosening the bars first and raising them. You will be surprised how much different that is. The bars on the X come from the factory for the average height of somebody much smaller than us. T.

I don't know if I want/need 4 inches of pullback. I thing I need to go up.....not back. Any thoughts?
They won't give you that much pullback; they'll raise the bars about 2 inches, pull them back about 1&1/2". Elite Pullback risers (from Phat Performance Parts) look pretty much the same as Show Chromes, but they're a better price.

I just put some Show Chrome 4" risers ( with the cut outs ) on my R. It was the last of many mods and probably the best. Not only is the ride more comfortable but the bike is more stable at slow speeds and turns. If I knew what I know now; this would have been my first mod.

Thanks BigT. I'm gonna try that first and see if I can't save myself a few bucks. By the way, here's a new pic with new Kury bling. I put on the shaft/final drive and swingarm chrome on both sides of the bike. Kury and Showchrome make some great products and a very easy mod on both! See gallery for other side. Thanks for all the help guy's. I'm almost done!

Hey AZ,

I have a $$ savings thing for you to try.

Loosen up the nuts on the stock risers and pull up on the handlebar ends. Then tighten the nuts back. If this is comfortable, you won't need to replace the risers. The bars come slung low from most dealers. I don't know why, they all just seem to be setup that way.

I went with Aeromach (chrome and looks better than stock) but didn't need to for functionality (I'm 6'3" as well)

If you do go with the aeromach risers, go to their site and check out the hot buys...Sometimes you can find what you need about half price. They'll say they have a small imperfection...but between me, hubby, my dad and three friends who bought them, no one could find a single scuff, much less a scratch. A penny saved on one accessory...leaves more for others.. BB

i was wondering just how much stuff you can get in the rear bags? enough for a week end away?
For me absolutely. For a typical girlfriend on the back......I'll get some complains until she realizes we never even left the hotel room once we got to where we were going.
