I want to buy some saddlebags but I want to be able to take them off the bike. I will rarely use them except for long weekend trips.

1 - Would it be better to buy "throwover" bags? If so, will they scratch the paint.

2 - Which brand would you recommend?

3 - I have the Rivco curved solo rack. Does this make a difference?

Finally - HELP!!!!

Personally, I would stay away from any throwovers. Your going to end up scratching and rubbing your paint. I would get some hard bags with the Easy brackets. Once installed, you can put them on and take them off in seconds.

HDeater, I have the hondaline brand. I can take the bags and brackets of it about 20 minites. They are a little pricey though. You may want the easy bracket, but in my opinion if you are only going to have the bags on occasionally you may not want them (easy bracket) on the bike either. When I take my bags off I like the clean look of no brackets. Just my .02. :D

I have the US Saddlebags with quick release. Those things come off in a matter of seconds. The great part is that they are locking as well, so no one else can take them off your bike in seconds and steal them. We had a discussion similar recently where I got into detail on these bags. Do a quick search for US Saddlebags. Hope this helps.
